Today’s quote is Sage’s sass from THE FALSE PRINCE. How about you? What’s your favorite sass from him in book 1?
If you haven’t yet read THE FALSE PRINCE, or any books in the series, would you please consider getting a copy from your local indie bookstore – help them out during this crazy time.
If there is no indie near you, when you order from my indie, The King’s English in Salt Lake City, I can sign those copies to you.
If you have read the books, then thank you! Tomorrow’s post will be a fun short story from those who knew Sage as he was growing up. (So it will contain spoilers from this book – you must read The False Prince first!)

I’ve read the entire series twice, but have read so many of my favorite scenes (A.K.A. all of them) so many times, I pretty much know the book as well as I know the back of my own hand.
Love the quote. Sage is such a fun character. My favorite sass from him in book one is “‘…Next time I checked on him, he’d gotten over the fever and was a good deal more humble.’
“Connor looked at me again. ‘He doesn’t look so humble now.’
“‘I got over that, too.'”
Sage’s sass is everything. 😂😂
This is one of my favorite quotes by Jaron (of course it’s not the only one).
“Roden looked back at Cregan, then to me. ‘Okay, the winner advances to the throne. Please give me the crown instead, Sage. I don’t want to kill you.’
‘Lucky coincidence, I don’t want to get killed.'”
Ooohhh!!! I LOVE that one! I can’t believe I had forgotten it.
I know right? It’s so funny!
“You ever wake me in the night again and I’ll hurt you.”
“As long as you have me chained, prepare for waking up a lot in the night,” I said. “I’m not a quiet sleeper.”
He replaced the chain, tightening it, I noticed, from what it had been before. I stretched and yawned and rolled over, pulling my chained leg as far forward as I could. Mott yanked it back. Even though I knew I’d pay for it the next day, I couldn’t help but grin as I pulled my leg forward again.
*utter gold*
Thanks for these fun blog posts, Mrs. Nielsen! 😀
I don’t really have a favorite, but one of the ones I like is from chapter one of The False Prince: “I stared up at him through the parts of my hair. ‘What are you wanting me for, Conner?’ ‘You’ll address me as Sir or Master Conner.’ ‘What are you wanting me for, Sir Master Conner?'”
Mine would have to be when Conner tells Sage to call him Sir or Master Conner and Sage calls him Sir Master Conner. lol 😂
“He doesn’t look so humble now”
“I got over that too”
Yesss! My favorite, too.
Yesssss that one always makes me laugh
“Don’t call me a coward,” Tobias said, “I’m not!”
“Have you come to kill me?” I asked. “Because I’ll scream when you do and it’ll wake up the princess and probably a whole lot of other people and you’ll get into trouble.”
“You’ll be dead.”
“Yes, but you’ll be in trouble.”
This is one of my favorites, too!
This is one of my favorite quotes from the book! My cousin and I love our “Sassy Diva Sage”. You don’t understand just how much I enjoy Sage’s sassy moments😉
I love all of his sassy comments, but one of my favorite is probably…
I pulled a garlin from my vest pocket, stolen from Conner’s pocket after dinner, and absentmindedly let it roll over my knuckles. When it reached my pinky finger, I carried it with my thumb back to my forefinger.
“Nice trick,” Tobias said.
“It helps me think.”
“What are you thinking about?”
“Ways to get you to stop talking to me.”
Oh my gosh, I live for his sass. That’s a big exaggeration, but when I read the spicy remarks, it feels that way. Props to Mrs. Nielsen for writing such insanely hilarious lines and making Jaron such a diva who we all love and admire.
This one always cracks me up:
“Conner answered, “Mrs. Turbeldy warned me that you have a history of running away. Where did you go?”
“To the church of course. To confess my sins.”
Sage’s sassy remarks are honestly the best thing ever. I laugh out loud every time I read them. Here are some favorites:
(This one’s not really sassy but I just think it’s hilarious)
“Sage, did you know you looked so much like the prince?”
“I always felt I looked more like myself than anyone else.”
“Please give me the crown instead, Sage. I don’t want to kill you.”
“Lucky coincidence. I don’t want to be killed.”
“I’m still better than you.”
“Yes, but I’m handsomer, don’t you think?”
“You have to do better, Tobias.”
“Is that a challenge?” he asked.
“I’d never challenge an inferior.”
I love all of these quotes!!!
Ooh, I love the handsomer quote. In THE WARRIORS CURSE, someone made the remark that he was handsomer than Simon, and I was having Sage-flashback moments to this quote.
spoilers!!!!!
this part is my fav because he is basically telling them he is the prince
“Sage did you know you look so much like the prince?”
“I have always felt I looked more like myself then anyone else”
Yes I love this one too!
