IT’S THAT MOST WONDERFUL TIME AGAIN! Jennifer Nielsen December 2, 2019

IT’S THAT MOST WONDERFUL TIME AGAIN!

It’s time again for the annual holiday giveaway. This year, the focus is on sequels! Did you start a series and leave off from continuing it? Or did you want to start a series but never quite got around to it?

If so, winners have their choice of any of these books.

THE FALSE PRINCE

If you have not read this book yet, please do!

Sage is determined to live by his own rules, making his way through thievery, wit, and a fair bit of luck. That changes when he is captured by a nobleman and forced into a contest with three other orphans. One will be chosen to impersonate the missing prince of the kingdom. The other boys will be killed, because they know this treasonous plan. Despite the danger, Sage may have his own ideas about how to survive.

THE RUNAWAY KING

There are consequences for what Sage does in THE FALSE PRINCE. And it will begin with an attempted revenge from a former friend/rival.

THE TRAITOR’S GAME

On her return home from a long absence, Kestra Dallisor is captured by members of the rebellion, who are forcing her to betray her family. Rather than comply, Kestra has a secret plan to bring down the rebellion itself, including her captor, Simon Hatch. That becomes more complicated when she begins to question whether the rebellion is right. And even more complicated still when she begins to question her own feelings for Simon.

THE DECEIVER’S HEART

Simon and Kestra’s relationship only becomes more complicated when secrets are revealed about Simon, and when Kestra has to make a choice that may threaten everything the rebellion has fought for.

RISE OF THE WOLF

The first book of the series, MARK OF THE THIEF, introduced you to Nicolas Calva, a mining slave who accidentally discovers the magic of the Gods. Now the entire Roman empire is seeking to control him, but no one more than General Radulf.

In Book 2, the pressure only becomes worse as Nic’s enemies form around the Praetors – those determined to serve the goddess Diana as she makes war against the other Gods.

WRATH OF THE STORM

Nic finds himself at the center of a war of the Gods, and those who wish to bring about the fall of Rome are about to throw everything they have at him. Now, Nic must not only try to save himself, but his friends, Crispus and Aurelia as well. Or will they be the ones to save him?

For this week’s giveaway, simply tell me the top 2 books on your wish list. Your answers will not affect who wins – I’m just curious! Winners will be randomly drawn.

The contest will end Saturday Dec 7 at midnight EST. Because of the number of anticipated winners and international shipping costs, winners must have a US address for shipping.

I’ve read The False Prince with my class every year since it was released. Our school librarian said he’s rarely seen students so captured by a series! My kids are now all into your historical fiction books. I’d love a signed copy of The False Prince, because it’s my favourite. But if I were to add two books to my classroom library, it would be Rise of the Wolf and Wrath of the Storm.

Hi Jennifer! Thank you so much for doing this giveaway! You are so giving and have the most amazing heart. Okay, this question was a lot easier than I thought it would be for me to answer, but my top 2 books are The False Prince and Wrath of the Storm! I read the ascendancy trilogy first and I think it was just so easy for me to slip into the Mark of the Thief because of how relatable I found Sage and Nic to be. It was the most natural transition into such a beloved series in my collection. Wrath’s ending was also just SO spectacular (though I won’t spoil anything here in case someone scrolling through hasn’t read it yet) that without a doubt my choice had to be that one. Thank you so much for being the wonderful person that you are Jen! Love you!

The false prince trilogy is the book that makes me forget about what’s real for I am so enticed on how Jaron thinks and execute a certain strategy. I dwell to his world that I got lost ine mine (funny but it’s true). Also, the book was written in a way that the readers must read it more than once for them to realize the intended meaning that the use of words is implying. It is truly a work of art that I wish to share to my children (if I will have some in the future) for them to read it in various times and discover something new everytime they do. I’ve read false prince when I was in my pre adolescent age. I remember falling in love in an indtant. Reading it twice made me appreciate the choice of words of the author but reading it thrice when I grew up is surprisingly amazing for everytime I read it again, I realize that my views and focus on the story is always different. In my first read, I focus more on the love story. In the second, I notice how the clues was actually given in the beginning of the story. And reading it thrice, made me look at it on a political view. It is truly a story that molded my childhood that inspired the person I am now.

Hmmm. . .let’s see. I haven’t gotten around to The Deciever’s Heart, but I LOVED the first so that would be #1. I also really want to read the annotations of an Arden Shakespeare edition of Othello! Thank you so much for the giveaway!

Highest on my wishlist are actually two of your books since they’re some of the first I read.
The False Prince because I read it soo many times.
Resistance because it made me cry and Chaya’s story, although heartbreaking, was wonderfully told.

Me and my little sister adore the False Prince series and we bond over it. Would love to give a copy of one of your signed books as a gift for Christmas but regardless of whether I win, thank you for writing the trilogy and hosting a contest like this! My wishlist has The Overstory by Richard Powers and Judas by Jeff Loveness.

It’s so hard to choose my two top books on my wish list but I think they might be the two books I’m waiting to come out. Warriors Curse and Ember Ends. I can’t wait for both of those to come out and want to read them as soon as possible. I think my preference for the books above would be the False Prince. The Ascendence trilogy are my favourite books of yours, the Traitors Game books next.

I remember reading “The False Prince” and “The Runaway King” in junior high and instantly it became my favorite series. I currently own “ The False Prince” and it would be simply amazing to own a signed copy of “The Runaway King.” This is a generous giveaway! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to win your signed books. It is greatly appreciated.

The False Prince or Wrath of the Storm would be amazing! I read the whole Ascendance Trilogy, but only Mark of the Thief in that trilogy. I’d love to continue reading it!

Thank you so much for running, you’re such an amazing author and person!

Hi, my name is Joshua Calizo, I hope to, some day, become a great writer and entertain the world, as yourself. Currently, the top two books on my wish list are, Order of the Majestic by Matt Myklusch, who wrote the incredibly interesting Accidental Hero series, and Surrender the Key (Curse of the Boggin), the first book of The Library series from D.J. MacHale, since I really enjoyed his Sylo series. Although I already have the full False Prince series, I would love a signed copy of the first book. If not, The Traitor’s Game, since I haven’t read that series, yet. Thank you for doing this and for your inspiration, and hopefully I will do the same, some day.

I am a new fan of yours. I just devoured “Words of Fire,” and it fit so perfectly with the narrative writing unit my elementary students are working on that I decided to research about you and your books. I would like to get my hands on your “False Prince” and “Runaway King.”

You are a gifted author. Thank you for your contributions to children’s literature.

I’ve read the Ascendance Trilogy and loved it! I have yet to finish the Mark of the Thief Trilogy though, so I think I’d go with Wrath of the Storm.
