The Most Wonderful Time…3

Thanks to those who posted to social media last week. This week’s winner is Saidy Walker!

This is the final week of the contest, and one in which I want to talk about The Ascendance Series.

Book 1 is THE FALSE PRINCE.

Sage is a thief and an orphan and is doing just fine on his own. But when he is taken away by a regent to the king, Bevin Conner, he begins to understand that he has just become part of a dangerous and treasonous plot. Three other boys have been taken as well: Roden, who is strong and ambitious. Tobias, who is smart and plotting. And Latamer, with a good heart, but a sick body. One of these boys will go on to impersonate the missing prince of the kingdom, now heir to the throne. Sage wants no part of it, but he also understands that the boys who are not chosen will be killed, so that no one else will ever discover this plan. However, it turns out that Sage may have a plan of his own…

If you haven’t read this book, please do. And if you’ve only read this first book, please go on to the second book, THE RUNAWAY KING, or the third, THE SHADOW THRONE, though I promise you, I will only make things harder on Sage each time.

Some of readers’ favorite quotes for this series are listed below.

THE FALSE PRINCE

“Master Graves was incensed and said, as punishment for my disruption, I would have to write my letters an extra ten times that day.
“Ten times the better I’ll know them, then.” I said. “How strange that you should punish me by ensuring I come out more educated than Roden, who has tried to obey you.”

AND ALSO…

“I never denied being a fool. That’s the difference between us.”

THE RUNAWAY KING

“Above all else, I think that you are a compulsive liar.”
My laughter was tense, but sincere. “Hardly. In fact, I consider myself a compulsive truth teller. It’s only that everyone else seems compelled to misunderstand me.”

AND ALSO…

“Erick: “I think I may grow to hate you before this is over.”
Sage: “But you don’t already and that’s got to be some sort of record.”

THE SHADOW THRONE

“Nobody gives you respect in this life. You must take it, you must earn it, and then you must hold it sacred, because no matter how hard respect is to attain, it can be lost in an instant.”

AND ALSO…

“Villains and plots and enemies are simple things to me. But friendships are complicated, and love is harder still. It has wounded me deeper than a sword ever could.”

If you want a chance to win any of the books in this week’s giveaway, post a favorite quote from any book you love. Winner’s will be posted next Sunday.

“‘Wait—” he motioned to Richard, who was about to go out again and investigate. ‘Let it be. It won’t be long.’ Richard stared in disbelief. ‘You say there’s a horse in your bathroom, and all you can do is stand there naming Beatles songs?'” -Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (not very deep, but it always makes me smile)

My favorite quote from The Runaway King is “a strong heart will ALWAYS overcome a strong body.”

That’s my favorite because I feel like that I can relate to it and it just matches whats been going on in my life recently.

Ah there are so many quotes I love from the false prince
“You stole it from the master.”
“Who stole it from me. What I did simply set the universe back in order.”

And a favorite quote of mine from Cinder by Marissa Meyer
“Aren’t you hot?” … “Dying,” he said, “but I’m trying to be inconspicuous.

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” -LOTR

I have a couple, but this is my most favorite from The Shadow Throne: “You were wrong, commander. Whatever chains you try to place on me, I will always, always, rise from them. I’m not buying my freedom, because you never owned it. But I am taking it back, for me, and for my country.”

One of my favorite quotes from The False Prince: “If I’m about to get killed… I won’t check the rules to see if my survival fits with someone’s codebook of fair play.” I think it’s just so clever and really makes a statement about how ridiculous society’s norms can be at times.

My favourite quote is probably from the Shadow Throne. When I was younger, I think it really changed how I see the world, and influenced me as a person. “You were wrong, commander. Whatever chains you try to place on me, I will always, always, rise from them. I’m not buying my freedom, because you never owned it. But I am taking it back, for me, and for my country.”

One of my favorite quotes is from Lord of the Rings!
“All that is gold does not glitter.
Not all those who wander are lost.
The old that is strong does not wither.
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken.
A light from the shadows shall spring.
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
And crownless again shall be king.”

Here is a sprinkling of some of my favorites (I apologize for so many… I got a bit carried away):

“But even a traitor may mend. I have known one that did.” – The Chronicles of Narnia: The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis

“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:31-32

“Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.” – The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien

“Do not pity the dead… pity the living, and above all, those who live without love.” – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, J.K. Rowling

“I was only of medium height, one of many ways I disappointed my father, who had felt that it would hinder my success (I disagreed — tall people fit in fewer hiding places).” – The False Prince by Jennifer Nielsen

    P.S.
Mrs. Nielsen, I love the new covers for the Ascendance Series (can’t call it a trilogy anymore!)! They are fantastic and it is a feast for the eyes!

A quote I like is from Little Town on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It goes: I don’t know how to say what I mean very well. But – it isn’t so much thinking, as – as just knowing. Just being sure of the goodness of God. – Mary Ingalls

My favorite quote is from a book series called The Ilyon Chronicles and is from book #2 The Kings Scrolls.
“A couple of hours of extra sleep wouldn’t make much difference anyway. Not like reading the Scrolls would.”

    I don’t have a favorite quote but here is one I really like;

A quote that I think is awesome and well written -bringing summation, laced with intrigue is from The Shadow Throne:
“All that I knew was at peace.”

Thanks for the give-away. Anticipating your upcoming book, The Warrior’s Curse, and your new addition to The False Prince – The Captive Kingdom.

Trying to be as non-spoiler-y as possible, but here’s one of my favorite moments from the Runaway King:
“How does it feel?” Fink asked.
“Like butterfly kisses, what do you think?”

One of my favorite quotes is from Okay for Now: by Gary D. Schmidt.

“When you find something that’s whole, you do what you can to keep it that way.
And when you find something that isn’t, then maybe it’s not a bad idea to try to make it whole again. Maybe.”

Mu favoret say is from the shadow throne “i sat awake near the fire, exhsusted but unble to sleep. While my fingers brushed over a single coin in my pocket,i watched the flames dance along the wood, and the smoke swirl in to the airin watever derection the. Wind sent it.what must it feel like,i wondered, to be something that drifts one way or another, with no will of its own. From my earliest years i had always been the very opposite of that, endlessly comelled to fight againt whatever force seamed to push at me even if it was for my own good such a fool i could be, i vowed to change that part of my self on the condition that the rest of the world stoped trying to make me change it.” Thank you jennifer a nielsen for being my escape from the world around me

The false prince is my favorite book of all time. Nothing beats it. My favorite quote is: “Yes Sir Master Conner.” That’s the minute I knew Sage was going to be amazing.
