Are you Ready for Tonight? Jennifer Nielsen October 1, 2020

Are you Ready for Tonight?

It’s here! The official trailer for THE CAPTIVE KINGDOM. But don’t just watch it – explore it! This is a 360 trailer, so move your phone as you watch, or use your cursors to explorer as it plays. If you have headphones, even better!

The link to register is HERE.

It will ask for your email, which is only used so that we know who is attending. The event is free and on (Edit) CROWDCAST, and there is a high probability that it will be sorta fun.

This is the plan:

At 5:30 MT / 7:30 ET, I will release the new series book trailer. (It will appear at the top of this blog and on all my social media.) It’ll be different from any other trailer though. You’ll enjoy it best with headphones but they’re not mandatory, and be prepared to look around…

The party begins at 6 pm MT / 8 pm ET. I’ll tell a couple of stories, talk about my current projects, but I want most of the time to be used for your questions, so get `em ready! Prizes will go to those who ask the questions, and these are great prizes. Winners will be able to choose from:

An advanced reader’s copy of RESCUE, my historical to be released this March.

A signed, first edition of THE SCORCH TRIALS, from the Maze Runner series by James Dashner.

A signed, first edition of THE FIFTH WAVE, by Rick Yancy.

A signed, first edition of DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: THE LONG HAUL by Jeff Kinney.

A signed, first edition of TURTLES ALL THE WAY DOWN by John Green.

A signed copy of AMULET by Kazu Kibuishi.

A signed, first edition of THE GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO VICE AND VIRTUE by MacKenzie Lee.

A signed, first edition of THE TRIALS OF APOLLO by Rick Riordan.

A $20 gift card to The King’s English Bookstore.

An advanced copy of book 5 of the Ascendance series, when it is available.

To order any of my books from our hosts this evening, The King’s English Bookshop, click HERE. Please remember in the final box where it says “Order Comments,” to put in your name, if you want it signed to you.

If you have already ordered and forgot to put in your name, send me an email so that I can be sure to still get it signed properly.

I will see you all online tonight!

p.s. I know I’ve been slacking on a few posts, some unanswered questions, and at least one prize award. I will get to it all soon, I promise!

I already registered, but I’m not sure how to get to the Zoom. Will it pop up through the registration site when it starts?

I’m super excited!!! I do unfortunately have to leave early, though. 😢

Thanks for doing this even though it’s different than usual, Mrs. Nielsen!

There are no words for how amazing this book trailer is! I probably looked ridiculous spinning around in my spinney chair but I couldn’t help but try to take in all of the details. If the trailer is any indication of what’s to come, I just got way more excited!

    What is Fink’s rat’s name?

      October 3, 2020, 1:33 pm

His rat is simply named Rat. Another reason Jaron doesn’t like it.

    That. Trailer. Is. Perfect.

I have never seen a 3D trailer done with so much detail. From Farthenwood to Tarblade, to the wastelands of the battle field and the sunset, paired with the voiceover, this is a stunning and captivating piece. I’ve watched it who knows how many times, and I’m not done yet!

The event was such a pleasure too. Thank you, Mrs. Nielsen! I’m all pumped-up for The Captive Kingdom! 😀

Hello, I know Crowdcast has a replay option, but is there a way to download the video or you can post a downloadable copy in a blog post? I’d love to save it separately from the Crowdcast site. I listened in yesterday and absolutely loved it – thank you so much for all the amazing advice and worlds you have given us!

Thank you for doing this virtually! This made my day! I know it’s mainly because of Covid, which is no good thing, but I’m still grateful that it gave us international readers a chance to join the celebration! Would you please consider doing similar virtual events for your future books after the pandemic?

Ms. Nielsen, did you have a specific time period that the Ascendance series takes place in?

    • Reply
      October 7, 2020, 1:59 am

Roughly the 1400’s, though I play with actual history quite a bit. Some things are far advanced, and some are far behind the way true history unfolded.

Hello Ms. Nielsen! First of all, the launch party was absolutely magical! I loved “meeting” you! I hope you can do that for all your book releases! Second, the trailer your son made is literally mind blowing and every time I watched it my heart raced, so please tell him my thanks for that AWESOME trailer! And Finally, I have a question following the launch party. When will The Captive Kingdom books be shipped, the ones we bought from Kings English for the launch party? I can’t wait to receive it!

    Hello Mrs. Nielsen,
That trailer is the COOLEST thing! It’s magnificent!
Thank you so much for hosting this online launch party! I was unable to attend because of the time difference, (it was at 2 am for me) but I was wondering if it’s possible to post a replay link on the blog? Or is there anywhere else I can find it?
I was really sorry I couldn’t make it and I’d love to be able to watch it.
    Thanks again!
