The Fifth Day of Christmas

On the fifth day of Christmas,

This author offered me

Five Giveaways!

Four Christmas wishes,

Three Rescues,

Two Free Zoom Visits, and

A title for book five series.

Before we get to the giveaways, let’s do some…er, giveaways. Here are the three winners of ARCs of RESCUE:

*** Wendy W *** GobLob *** Alia ***

But, as you see, there are five giveaways today. What can you win? Your choice of any of these titles!

How to enter? Today is important. To enter today, you must do the following:

  1. Do something kind for someone else.
  2. It must be something you would not ordinarily do for them and do not have to do.
  3. Do this for someone who does not deserve your kindness.

You don’t have to tell me what you did, though you can if you want. All I need in comments below is that you did it, all three.

Winners will be announced on the eighth day of Christmas so you have a little time to get this done.

And again, simply because of postal rates, winners need a US address. If you are not in the US, do you know someone who is that I can mail this to? Then the two of you can work out getting it the rest of the way to you.

Coming tomorrow…the sixth day of Christmas! (Well obviously, right?)

Yes I think so. As far as I can tell, the copy in the picture above actually is a paperback copy…

Christmas indeed! This is a fantastic opportunity 🙂
✓ 1. Did something kind for someone I don’t see all of the time.
✓ 2. Voluntarily brought joy to this person…
✓ 3. …even though we weren’t necessarily on the best terms.
    (Wow it’s like checking a microphone, “Check 1 2”)

I only ever got to read “The Traitor’s Game” for my kindle’s charger port broke, and I cannot access the rest of the series on there anymore! I’ve been waiting to get the next books for a while now, so this is an awesome opportunity!
I LOVE your Mark of the Thief series, and I love anything that has to do with Rome! That series definitely has earned itself a few rereads (because why not enjoy it again! …and a few more times after the first again…. hehe)

What a great way to celebrate Christmas!!!

Hello! When I saw this post today, I knew it was definitely a sign. Today is a hard day for me, because my little sister is getting a surgery and I’m very very nervous. She is such an awesome, enthusiastic girl and I love her to death! I don’t know what I would do if anything happened to her. That is why I decided to make her feel like she is “Queen of the World!” when she gets home. I made her a comfy spot on her favorite section of the couch right in front of the TV, and I got her an ice cold glass of apple juice since that’s all she can have for a while afterwords. We put up a big banner with her special word on it, (believe) and I wrote her favorite quote on her whiteboard. “When things don’t go right, go left!” My dogs are on the couch waiting for her to get back, and ready to give her some snuggles. If I win the giveaway, I hope I can get “The Traitor’s Game” so I can read it to her before bed. I know she would really love that! Thank you so much for all you do Mrs. Nielsen! You always bring a little happiness into my day when you post, especially on a day like today!

OH MY GOODNESS, CHLOE!!!!!! That was just SOOO SWEET of you to do that for your sister. I don’t really know what you personally believe, but I’m a Christian and I really felt like God is telling me to let you know that I will be praying for your sister to have a good recovery and for Him to be with you and your sister through all of this. He is greater and more powerful than anything this world can bring. God bless you, Girl!!!!!!!! <33

Chloe, your response really touched my heart and reminded me of my own little sister. This past summer, we read The Ascendance Series together. Well, for me it was a reread- I read the trilogy the first time when I was around her age. We took turns reading the chapters aloud, and, needless to say, it made quarantine a lot more manageable. My sister had to go abroad a week after The Captive Kingdom came out, so now we meet on Zoom and I read it to her as goes to sleep.
I hope and pray that your sister has a speedy recovery, and please send her our well wishes!

Did it! I gave the part of my pastry to my sister that she really wanted. I really wanted it too though. I also am trying hard to be patient with my siblings and to let them do what they want, like play with me, even if I do not want to do it. It is hard but they are happy and that makes me happy! It feels good to do something kind for someone. If I win I would like a copy of Words on Fire! I think my siblings would also like it. Thank you so much for this opportunity!

I just wanted to add something. The first is I do not have a copy of any of your books and I would love one! Also a couple of months ago (just before Halloween) my friend dropped off a bag of candy on my doorstep for me. My sister found it and thought it was for her, she was so excited because she has not seen her friends since March. I decided that rather than letting her be disappointed and taking the candy I let her keep it. I also did not tell her that it was not for her, I knew that would make her feel guilty. I know that was not a recent thing but I just wanted to share it!

At school there is an activity that we are doing where we get paid for a certain job we are assigned (but not for doing anything really just to learn about the stamp act). I gave my pay for the day to a boy in my class that was assigned to be a farmer which has the lowest pay. He is a pain and always gets in trouble so it was a good choice.

I did everything you said and it really refreshed my soul. I really am feeling good about myself. But to be honest, everybody got suspicious of me and asked me if I was fooling them. But I told them that you told me to do this and they were like” ah, that’s the reason I need advice from her”. And also I would really like the warrior’s curse…

I did all three things! I did the service project for my sister. She really needs help cleaning and I did it! I helped her! This was a hard thing to do because we fight a lot, we share a room, and she is the queen of mess in my household. While she was at work today I cleaned our room and did her laundry.
Thank you for giving me this assignment! I love my new clean room and with that, more tolerance for my sister!

I did my act of kindness too. If I win, I want you to give my book to Chole, who left a comment above that she wants to read The Traitor’s Game to her younger sister after she has surgery. That’s another act of kindness I can give. And just recommended Rescue to one of my critique partners who is writing a historical picture book set in WWII.

I did my act of kindness. I bought a Secret Santa gift for a kid who didn’t want to participate in class. I wonder what he will think of it? If I win, I hope to give the book(s) to my best friend Alaina (don’t tell her). I know she would love them!

I did this, and have made a goal to do something like this everyday until Christmas- thank you so much for giving out this challenge! I learned while doing it that kindness-any form, no matter how small- can really make someone’s day and make them feel like they’re loved. And doing it made my day too! Smiles all around over here 😁😁

Wow!!!! I hope you reach your goal!!!!!!!! I’m cheering you on!!!!!!!!!!! *waves pom poms* Yes, often the smallest act can make the biggest difference! The song “Dream Small” by Josh Wilson reminds me of this and how simple kindness can still change the world.

    I did it!

When my younger brother woke me up way too early because he was scared of shadows, I did my best not to get annoyed and convinced him that the shadows weren’t monsters. Then I unloaded the dishwasher, dried all the dishes and put them away. Then I made my mom breakfast in bed. Then I dug in the snow for the newspaper (which was really fun, I love snow)!

Thank you so much for doing this, my friend and I are having lots of fun guessing what each day will be, and we are trying to crack the code in one of the quotes from the sixth day! (Q M F B T F C S J O H N F T P N F X B U F S) It isn’t going well though…

If I win, please can I have Words on Fire or A Night Divided? Sadly, I am not allowed to read the Traitors Game series because I am not allowed to read a lot of romance. Thanks!

My sister and I haven’t been getting along very well. Our day always ends in a fight. I know that she has been really wanting to write a book with me so today when she gets home from school, I’m setting up a writing party with snacks and decorations. We will be able to write together and bond together.
Just like Natalie and her amazing kindness, I want my book to go to Chloe. She needs it more than me.

I gotta admit, when I first read this post, my initial thought was “nah, I don’t have to do this, I’ll let someone else get it” but as I was reading the comments, I realized that it wasn’t about the prize, it was about doing something nice for someone else for no reason. I have been in a low state mentally lately so I didn’t really want to do this challenge, but you’ve inspired me Jennifer, and and everyone else in these comments. So I did my three things. I recently joined the volleyball team at my school and there’s this one girl on the team that just does not like me, I dunno why. I don’t think I did anything to her, she just is always mad at me. I just figured that just because she’s being mean to me is no excuse for me to be mean to her, so I’ve been putting forth the effort to do kind things for her. I tell her she did a good job every time she does something in practice, and I go get her ball for her when it comes my way so she doesn’t have to run. Though I haven’t seen results yet, (key word, “yet”) I hope we can eventually become friends. I feel so good doing this because I know it’s the right thing to do, and it boosts my mental mood a lot when I do it. Thank you for inspiring me!!!
