I’ve been wanting to put together a playlist for THE FALSE PRINCE for months, but really didn’t know how. I’m still figuring it out, to be honest. So here is a playlist, though you’ll have to be registered on Spotify (I think) to play these songs. It’s free registration though. In the meantime, I’ll work on other ways to get a playable list up without registration anywhere.
There will be a playlist coming for RUNAWAY KING as well (and much earlier, now that I’ve mastered this incredibly basic skill).
If you have songs to suggest that I add, let me know!
“I knew all the rules, but the rules did not know me, guaranteed.” Thank you, Mr. Eddie Vedder, for a brilliant song that gave breath to a character ready for his story to be told.
It’s an older song, but I think it speaks to a part of himself that Sage often struggles with.
Seems like this just has to be there.
Like the song, but love the lyrics for this book.
Sage doesn’t fly, of course, so I’m not sure this song translates directly. But I do think he’d identify with several of these lyrics.
Sage, before he’s taken to Farthenwood…
And these are songs I listened to a lot in the writing of The False Prince. For me, they’re embedded in my mind now with certain scenes…
Such as when Sage is traveling away from the orphanage and first comes to Farthenwood…
When Sage and Mott talk to each other beside the river, shortly before they leave for Drylliad.
Or when Sage stands on the dais beside Kerwyn at the end of the book…

Nice playlists. I haven’t heard very many of those songs, but I totally agree with you. I actually picked Viva la Vida for my related song when I wrote my review (http://rivreads.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-false-prince-review.html) I absolutely LOVED The False Prince.

Hi, um a song idea would be angel with a shotgun by the cab?
I’m an angel with a shotgun fighting till the wars won
I don’t care if heaven won’t take me back
Because I,I,I,I, wanna live not just survive
Before you start a war you better know what you’re fighting for.
Great suggestions! Thank you!
Ah, im sorry i put my full name in the other comment. I’m sorry but would you mind deleting it?, but is it normal not to see the playlist?
Sorry you can’t play the songs, Emily. I’m working on figuring out how to embed a playlist that actually works.
Thank you so much for trying, but would it be too much trouble to put the names of the songs in the comments so I could listen to the songs by other means? If not, sorry for the bother
Definitely! This post didn’t transfer well when I changed website hosts so those titles were lost. Here’s the list:
* “Guaranteed” by Eddie Vedder
* “Fooling Yourself” by Styx
* “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay
* “What You Want” by Evanescence
* “Superman” by Five for Fighting
* “Believe” by The Bravery
* “The Mummer’s Dance” by Loreena McKennitt
* “Arrival at Aslan’s How” (Chronicles of Narnia) by Harry Gregon-Williams
* “Migration” by TJ Morgan
Thank you so much! I was going to reply but the comment is really skinny. I can’t wait until march when the Runaway King is coming out!
Thanks for posting the list in the comments. I haven’t had a chance to listen to them all as Spotify isn’t available in Canada…same thing with Pandora, but I definitely recognize some of these songs.
Thanks Melissa. I’ll post the playlist for Runaway King soon!
Okay, so this song might sound somewhat hardcore, but the lyrics SO match what I think he’d say to the other kingdoms starting the war.
And that song would be You’re Going Down by Sick Puppies. (listen to the clean version, btw. They do have it on Spotify.) I forgot to put it in my comment. *blush*
You’re right – that’s got some interesting lyrics. Good thinking! Interesting choice on the other one too – that’s very thoughtful, Valerie.
Oh! And I forgot. There’s this song I discovered recently called Royals by Lorde, and I connect it to Jaron because even though he is a royal, he has this sort of attitude towards his position. Check it out! Thanks.
When does THE FALSE PRINCE movie come out? I’m definitely going to be watching it at least 10 times before I’m satisfied. 😀
Thanks Angelina! The screenplay is still being written. Once it’s finished, the studio will either approve it to go forward, or not. So it’s still far too early to know when…or if…there will actually be a movie. Keep your fingers crossed!
you should look into any song by mumford and sons. Everything about their album Babel reminds me of the ascendance trilogy. actually I use it constantly for edits.
Lilly, I’m a huge fan of Mumford and Sons, but I do agree on the songs. “Lover of the Light” would be a good one for Sage, but from a different album of theirs, “White Blank Page” could easily come from Tobias in the final book.
Going through all of these old archives and saw this! Where can I find the playlist? What’s it called?
Hey! What is the title of the playlist on spotify?
It’s not on Spotify, it’s just my own playlist. I should add it there, though…
