Hi! You might remember me, I entered your contest during the quarantine. Me and my friend are OBSESSED with the Ascendance Series and we literally (I’m not even joking) talk about them Every. Single. Day.

We are each writing books and we would ABSOLUTELY LOVE a chance to meet you, even if it’s through zoom. I think that it would be lovely talking to you 🙂

So yeah! That’s why it would be amazing (and probably life-changing) if we could get a zoom meeting with you! Thanks!

As a writer, I think the Zoom visits would be most important for asking questions about the writing process and such. I haven’t had the chance to attend any panels/talk to many writers so 👀👀

My 9 yr old daughter is a super fan! She talks about you all the time. In fact last night on the car ride home she said, “You know why I love Jennifer?”. As I was thinking to myself—who the hell is Jennifer?!?! She continued, “because she always lets the young girl be the hero”. 🤔 💡 Oh!!! Jennifer Nielsen. Guess y’all are on a first name basis 😂

I’m a librarian at a school that has been off and on remote learning since last March. My kids LOVE your books and I’m so sad they don’t get to visit the library. I deliver books on a cart to classrooms everyday. I know they would LOVE the chance to talk with you and meet one of their favorite authors.

You are my daughter’s favorite author. When you visited her school, she was so excited. It was all she talked about the night before and all morning. Just before you arrived at her school, she vomited and had to come home. She was heartbroken and still talks about it.

A zoom meeting with you would definitely make up for it!

Okay it’s the second day of Christmas and I know exactly how I’d use the zoom. Picture this: My cousin and I are writing our own novels and have so many questions. We try to answer them for each other, but it would be great if we had someone to ask. We would also obviously ask about your books because were giant superfans! That’s all we’d talk about right now because that’s all I can think of from the top of my head right now, thanks!

We have been talking a lot about “dreaming big” in our daily lives, and chasing dreams without fear. She is 10 and has been through a lot in the past two years, after her father and I separated. She clung to reading your books through the entire thing, and I know reading your books was a huge gift in her life at this time. She has read all of your books, and is such a fan.

    Hello, Mrs. Neilsen,

I and my friends, (I’ll use their initials) K, G, F, H, and a few others, are huge superfans. (We tab our books in places so we can make theories.) Some of us aspire to act in the TFP movie. (If there is one.) Some of us aspire to write novels. But all of us love your dedication.

We are all very dedicated fans. We have running jokes about whether or not I can marry Sage, and nicknames, personality types, etc. for the characters. (We’ve decided that Sage and I are both ENTP’s. Makes sense, because I’m a HUGE narcissist.) I think you follow an Instagram account called ascendance_clubhouse. F and G manage that account. I’ve also posted several things about your books.

We have MANY Google Documents about Sage’s adventures. From fanfiction to a timeline, to even rewriting an entire musical word by word to fit Sage. We also have a separate group chat to roleplay as characters in your books.

If that wasn’t enough, we all talk about your books on a regular basis. We joke, conspire theories, and even argue over David Ramsay or Michael B. Jordan as Mott. (I say Michael.)

You posted recently about being Christian. (At least, I think it was Christian, but I’m incredibly sorry if it wasn’t.) Not everyone in the chat is Christian, but a lot of us are. We talked about this recently, how amazing it is that someone can show their faith so openly, and we really admire you for it.

Anyway, all this to say, We would be totally and utterly honored if you graced us with your presence during an online event. You are one of the best authors, and all of us are more peasants in your glory.

    Best wishes,
    ~Carrie

P.S. apologies if I accidentally sent the comment two times over. It glitches sometimes.

    Hi Ms. Nielsen!

I thought yesterdays gift was AWESOME but this, this is AMAZING!!! I would love to chat with you!!! Me, my mom and my brother have read your books and loved them! We are super fans!!! I’ve also been badgering my friends to read your books. I even entered your super fan contest and won semi-finalist with my drawing of mystic!! If I’d win I would first be super excited and wondering if this was real but then I’d talk about your book series out of which almost all your books I own, and probably some questions I had. I’d also ask for some advice and tips on my book that I am writing because I was inspired by you and your book series! I’d just love for you to read what I have and see if I have potential to be a writer! I don’t really know how to become a writer or to write an entire book but i’d love to learn! Your gifts are a super fans dream and I am excited for all of them! Thank you for everything you do 🙂 🙂 🙂

I would love a chance to talk with you about your books. I have talked to my friend so much about your books that they all have started to read them. The False Prince is my all time favorite book. Hello Jennifer Neilson!

I have a friend, her name is Ella Hibard, who aspires to be a writer, and has read almost, if not, all of your books! She cannot stop talking about the False Prince. She has come to me so many times telling me about your books, and how amazing they are. She has already submitted a response to this post, and I think it would be great to surprise her with this! She, lately, has been dealing with some self doubt, and I think that if she were to meet you, she would practically die! As I’m writing this, she learned the name of the 5th book in the False Prince series, and practically had a heart attack.

If you choose someone else, I completely understand. I think if she were to send you a message, that it would be that you are an absolutely amazing person and an amazing writer and author, and that she aspires to be you someday.

Have a Very Merry Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanza!

    Hi Mrs. Nielsen!

Over the past few months, I’ve met the most amazing group of people online, and we’ve all become really close friends. The people in our small group come from all over the world, and we met on social media because of our shared love of your writing! We speculate, debate, and fangirl over your books and even write fanfiction and music about it.

We have yet to meet in person, but when we do, it will be insane! We dream of attending the book launch for The Shattered Castle together, if that’s possible.

It would be a dream come true for us if we could have the opportunity to talk with you together in a Zoom call!

Thank you for doing this giveaway, and Merry Christmas!

Hi, I would spend the zoom learning more about how to write and how to edit (my worst enemy) and also hopefully learning more about you. I love your books and your my favorite author but I need to point out something. Today is the “Second Day of Christmas” and its the 13th tomorrow than would be the “Third Day of Christmas” but thats the 14th. You wrote on the how to enter area that the 14th was the fourth day and the check in tomorrow (which would be the 14th) for the third day. Just thought it was a funny mistake. Have a good day.

    Hi!
I recently finished the False Prince, and I loved it! It was one of those books that you can’t wait to pick up and read (and believe me, those are hard to come by!)
I am a self-published author who is really trying to get into traditional publishing, and I love writing and reading books for children (middle grade and young adult fiction). I especially love the short and blunt writing style that doesn’t have a whole lot of unnecessary details (okay, the house is green, we don’t need to know anymore about it LOL).
Your writing, Ms. Nielson, is so gripping and attention-grabbing! I would love to be able to talk to you, especially on the subject of how to keep your readers hooked. I’m having trouble with that with the book I am currently writing. You really seemed to do that so well in The False Prince, and writing was so powerful. I hope you have some great tips!
Writing has always been a passion of mine, and I want to be a real author, not just a self-published one. Maybe you could share a little bit about your publishing journey (the technical side, getting agents and whatnot). I’m looking for an agent right now, and it’s hard to know what to expect!
Oh, and I’m also interested to know if you’ve heard of The False Prince being turned into a movie lately! I read something about that, but, as far as I know, there haven’t been any official announcements.

If I won the Zoom visit I think it’d be really cool to tell you about how much the series means to me because it helped me get through really difficult times. Another thing is also how amazing your books are and if you are a writer how to get the story from your head and onto the pages along with overcoming writer’s block. I have story ideas and write them then writer’s block happens. Also would love to find out more about the other new books in my favorite book series (Ascendence) cause the fourth book made 2020 better!

And about how you come up with settings, and titles … I love to write stories, and managed to write 10,000 words in November for NaNoWriMo. So, I would also ask for advice on avoiding repetitiveness and coming up with plot twists that aren’t totally crazy but aren’t expected either (that’s something that I really struggle with!).

My daughter is a SUPERFAN and would love to have a chat with you over zoom! We’ve really enjoyed reading the ascendence series together and are almost done with the traitors game. We read at separate times and discuss our theories and reactions the next day. We’d love to hang out on zoom with you!

That is so AWESOME!!!!!!! I would love to chat with you and learn how to be a better writer, but my sister is a bigger fan than I am so I would give her the chance to zoom with you, if I win.

Oh, my goodness!! This is such a great opportunity! I am an aspiring author and would love to receive advice on my writing. Medieval fantasy is by far my favorite genre and you are my all-time favorite author. I would absolutely LOVE to receive advice on both my writing and how to pursue my career!

I had no idea how I’d use a Zoom visit with my favorite author, until I read you suggest the thing about an aspiring writer maybe picking your brain.
I remember the event a while ago when you launched Captive Kingdom and I took notes on tips you have then. I’d love to learn more.
As a kid, I was told my writing was creative and fun but when I got to college my professors basically told me I sucked and I ended up giving up writing….
I admit I kind of regret it now but I’m still too scared to try. So I guess….I would use the Zoom meeting to I guess maybe inspire me to write again. I used to love it and I wish I could let go of the fear to try. I have so many ideas just no clue how to start 😅

Hey, regardless of whether you win the Zoom or not, DO NOT let anyone’s opinion on your writing be the reason to quit. All of us – every writer on the planet – had to start somewhere. Maybe you’re a rough stone now, but you keep rolling and you will smooth those edges and become the writer you want to be. Seriously, if the story is in you, then write. I hate that your professors ever communicated any other idea to you. There are no bad writers, there are only inexperienced ones. Start again. Write.

If I were given the opportunity to meet with Jennifer Nielsen, there totally would be one very excitable Courtney.
If I were given the opportunity to meet with Jennifer Nielsen, I would discuss two story ideas and one very excitable Courtney.
If I were given the opportunity to meet with Jennifer Nielsen, I might also bring three awesome sisters, two story ideas, and one very excitable Courtney.
If I were given the opportunity to meet with Jennifer Nielsen, I totally would bring four pens and pencils (you should get the pattern by now to finish the verse)
If I were given the opportunity to meet with Jennifer Nielsen, I would want to discuss five killed-off characters (of mine) …
If I were given the opportunity to meet with Jennifer Nielsen, there would probably be ~six days of completed homework …
If I were given the opportunity to meet with Jennifer Nielsen, there definitely would be seven(ish) days of anticipation …
If I were given the opportunity to meet with Jennifer Nielsen, there probably would be about eight hours of planning (so I don’t sound like a complete idiot) …
If I were given the opportunity to meet with Jennifer Nielsen, there would probably be me nine minutes early …
If I were given the opportunity to meet with Jennifer Nielsen, I would have at least 10 minutes of (restraining) fangirling …
If I were given the opportunity to meet with Jennifer Nielsen, I would have with me eleven sheets of paper …
If I were given the opportunity to meet with Jennifer Nielsen, I would get to have a memory to last (at least) twelve years …

Hi! First off, if I won I would be so happy my head would possibly explode. ANyways, my friend and I run a book club and we are superfans of the Ascendance series! One of our most recent book club reads was The False Prince. I’m also an aspiring writer and I’d love to have the chance to pick your brain about writing. If I could zoom with my favorite author I’d discuss a few book plots of mine, dig into the world of Carthya a little deeper, and hopefully, my sister (who doesn’t really like reading- the horror!) would be convinced to finally read The False Prince.

Hi Mrs. Nielsen!! I am so happy that you are doing this 12 days of Christmas opportunities!!! You may be wondering why would I want a zoom meeting, well you see I’m not a teacher, nor a librarian, I am simply just a SUPERFAN. You probably don’t know this but unfortunately I am not always a very good reader. When it comes to your books oh my goodness I am IN LOVE I can actually finish them, and I never want to put the page down it’s crazy!!! I have to say my favorite book of yours if very tough for me to choose but I think I would say the Captive kingdom or the Mark of theif first book. I do enjoy the night divided as well. I just love your writing and I can’t get enough of it ever. Thank you for writing for us. It makes me want to read more even when I can’t find the time to read other books I always make the time for yours.

By the way, I’d also like to add to my initial comment that I would ask about your top writing tips. The book I am writing right now feels oh-so-epic, but it would be great if it could be even better. I’m really on a roll with my word count as compared to my other books, but there is always more to add to stories. It would be so cool if I could publish my books one day and have book signings and all that jazz!
People have been seeing writer-like qualities in me ever since I was about three years old, and I’m really kind of a go-getter, so being an author is something that would be really neat. Of course, yes, I’m already a writer, but I’m just self-published. Anyone can do that. Go big or go home, right?

Oh my goodness I don’t know how to start this, but just so you are aware, I am an absolute SUPERFAN! Your books have inspired me in so many ways as a young writer. For one, they are the reason I AM a writer. If I hadn’t stumbled upon them (with help from a friend) I wouldn’t have found my future career! Right now I’m in 8th grade, so there is much much more I can improve on. With help from you on your zoom call, I think I can take the information you give me and create something amazing! I would be immensely exuberant to have the opportunity to talk to you, and I know my friend that led me to you would be too (because why wouldn’t I invite her along?) Thank you so much for all of the amazing things you do. Remember, the day you decided to write was the day that led to inspire so many people, like me. Keep up the good work Mrs. Nielsen!
