RISE OF THE WOLF giveaway! Jennifer Nielsen November 29, 2015

RISE OF THE WOLF giveaway!

RISEOFWOLF_XLGWoot – book release!

The second book of the Mark of the Thief series is called RISE OF THE WOLF, and it will release on January 26, 2016.

If you missed Mark of the Thief, you need to read it before moving on to the second book, but good news – you can easily find a copy:

* In your school or local library (if they don’t already have it, ask them to get it. Say please!);

* Bookstores (hopefully there is one near your houseΒ πŸ˜€);

* Online stores (if there’s not one near your house 😱);

* Scholastic Book Fairs or Clubs.markofthief_XLG

AND while it’s only in hardback now (except for Fairs and Clubs), on December 29th it will become available in paperback (translation: cheaper to buy 😎).

For a quick tutorial on Mark of the Thief, check out the book trailer here:

In RISE OF THE WOLF, Nic’s adventures continue, but he is in far more trouble than ever, accused of possessing a key to a much sought after amulet, and literally in a race for his life.

I love this book and am so excited for you to read it! I haveΒ five galley copies to give away. Here are the rules to try to win:

1. Leave a comment below about a book on your Christmas wish list. (Your odds of winning don’t increase if it’s Mark of the Thief, or one of my other books, but that would be really cool!) You can only enter once, so make your comment count!

2. The contest begins about four seconds after this blog posts, and ends on Sunday, December 13th at 2 pm EST.

3. I will post winners names that day and try to send you an email if I can.

4. This is an international contest.

5. If you win, and have not yet read Mark of the Thief, you have to agree to read Mark of the Thief before you crack the cover of Rise of the Wolf. Otherwise, you won’t understand the book and might not enjoy it as much. That would be sad, and who wants to be sad about winning a contest?

I would like to own some of my favorite thief series, with the excuse that I would study the writing when really, I’m just fan-girling over my favorite characters as I reread them over and over! πŸ™‚

    To include:
-The Queen’s Thief Series” by Megan Whalen Turner
-The Ascendance Trilogy by Jennifer A. Nielsen
-The Seven Realms by Chanda Williams Chima

I also want some British books that I can’t seem to find in our library system, like: Dream a Little Dream, and You’re the One that I Want, by Giovanna Fletcher

And some pre-ordered sequels that my younger siblings and I are dying to read, like: Story Thieves: the Stolen Chapters, by James Riley, Keeper of the Lost City’s: NEVERSEEN, by Shannon Messenger and Rise of the Wolf by Jennifer A. Nielsen. πŸ™‚

Well, I already own the Ascendance trilogy (like, as soon as I had read the books i went and bought them), unfortunately, though I wouldn’t mind another set for lending out (I’m protective of my preciousessss…
-I really want to read Marvels by Brian Selznick, his books are so creative and have fantastic storylines too.
-His Dark Materials; my favourite series after the Ascendance trilogy
-Atlantis in Peril by T.A.Barron because our library does not have it and it is the sequel to Atlantis Rising which was a great novel.
-All the Land of Stories books by Chris Colfer
-Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel which is a 6 book series and I don’t dare buy the first few books because I hate having an incomplete series on my shelf.
-Little Women, a version with a nice cover image, not one of the babyish girly pink ones.
-A Night Divided, which my lazy library
    still haven’t ordered.
-Books 2 and 3 of the Books of Beginning series, I bought The Emerald Atlas in a bookstore sale once for only $5 (can’t resist cheap books, even ones I’ve never heard of) and absolutely adore it! And, as previously said, I hate not owning the full trilogy/series.
    Well, I could go on… πŸ˜›
I should probably ask for a bookshelf too πŸ˜€
Merry Christmas Mrs Nielsen and everyone else πŸ™‚

Books are ALWAYS on my wish list – no matter what time of the year it is. This year for Christmas, my friends and family can’t go wrong if they generously gift me with one of these books:

    1) Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth – historical fiction inspired by Rapunzel
    2) Egg & Spoon by Gregory Maguire – fantasy inspired by Russian folklore
    3) We Are Pirates by Daniel Handler – pirates take over the San Francisco Bay = amazing
    4) Hook’s Revenge by Heidi Schulz – Captain Hook’s daughter must avenge his death
    5) The Odds of Getting Even (Tupelo Landing #3) by Sheila Turnage – installment #3 in a humorous middle grade mystery series

Thank you for this chance to win a copy of your book! I adore your writing style, especially how you craft your characters. Nic and Sage are two of my favorite characters of all time!

    1. My Life Encapsulated – The Path to Success – Ken Brailsford. Ken Brailsford is an amazing individual that I had the privilege to get to know a number of years ago. The more I know about him and read from him, the more I admire and feel like I grow personally. I can’t wait to read this book!
2 I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve read by Gary D. Schmidt so Orbiting Jupiter is high on my list.
3 The Complete Far Side – Gary Larson. No explanation needed really.
    4. A Night Divided – Jennifer A Nielsen is definitely up there.
    5. I also really enjoyed Bomb by Steve Sheinkin and he has a new book out that sounds fascinating – Most Dangerous: Daniel Ellsberg and the Secret History of the Vietnam War so I’d like to read that as well.

My Christmas Wish list would include A Night Divided, except that I am running a Scholastic Book Fair and we have three copies and I will be buying one or doing a reorder for a few. Mark of the Thief is one book I will be buying since I so enjoyed The False Prince trilogy. Goodbye Stranger is on my list as well. Lastly, Seveneves. That is kind of off the top of my head, but I really wanted to enter this quickly as it would be very exciting to win this book.

“Mark of the Thief” is indeed my choice. My 2nd grandson, Nicholas, AKA Nic has asked for “Rise of the Wolf” for his 10th birthday in January. He loves your writing and is so excited to read this second book. As the Grandma, AKA Cita, I need to get up to speed on this series. Even if Nic has already read the book, his mom said that doesn’t matter, he will read the same book again if it’s one he really likes. Thank you for this contest and the chance to win his birthday present. Nic would be thrilled. πŸ™‚

I got to meet her earlier this year at my local library and she is hands down the coolest person I’ve ever met. She wrote offensive things in Latin on a whole bunch of tests and none of her teachers bothered to look up what it said. That obviously makes her practically a god, at least in my book.

I really enjoyed reading “The False Prince” series. I thought they were
excellent books. If I had to choose a top book to put on my Christmas wish list though, it’d probably be “The Emperor’s Soul,” by Brandon Sanderson. I thought that it was really brilliantly done, as well as impressed by the amount of detail it covered with so few pages.

I really enjoyed both of your series, the Ascendance Trilogy and the book the Mark of the Thief, and I especially enjoyed the plot twist at the end of The False Prince. I never really celebrated Christmas, apart from last last year (I think) when I got swimming supplies, so I really would like this comment to count. My wish list would include:

    *(Your book, lol)

    1) Summer and Bird by Katherine Katmull

    2) The School of Good ad Evil #3 The Last Ever After by Soman Chainani

    3) (This book hasn’t come out yet, but whatever) The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan (huge fan)

    4) Blue by Joyce Moyer

    5) Maximum Ride : School’s Out – Forever by James Patterson (because my mom ripped up my old copy and threw it away in a fit of rage. I liked that book!)

I am also reading The Trojan War and A Horse and His Boy (by C.S.Lewis) but that one isn’t as exciting as The Magicican’s Nephew and The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe. -Good Enough by Paula Yoo because it’s such a relatable book for students.
-The Runaway King because I own The False Prince and I read that book a lot because it is my favorite book and whenever I’m done with The False Prince I always want to read more but never can because I don’t have the next book!
-Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell because the title describes my life perfectly.
-Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Mass because I love the protagonist of this series and I can’t wait to read the new book and my library is taking forever getting it.

I don’t think I can choose just one book for my Christmas list, so I’ll go with my top five:
    1. Hawthorn by Carol Goodman – I’ve read it and it’s SO good. Perfect finale to the series.
    2. Untamed, A.G. Howard – I’m DYING for more of her Wonderland.
    3. Undaunted Hope, Jody Hedlund – a good Christian historical is always on my list
    4. Stars Above, Marissa Meyer – finishing Winter just wasn’t good enough. I need MORE.
    5. Glass Sword, Victoria Aveyard – I desperately need to get back into this world.

I could go on and on. For me, any book is always the right answer!

The top book on my Christmas wish list is The Crown by Kiera Cass, fifth book in the Selection series. I read the series a few weeks ago and now I started rereading it already! (I don’t think I’ve ever reread a series so soon besides the Ascendance Trilogy, which I could read a thousand times over!) The Crown doesn’t come out until May, but maybe someone will surprise me with an ARC copy (fingers crossed ☺). Though getting Rise of the Wolf would definitely surpass any other present!
