RISEOFWOLF_XLGWoot – book release!

The second book of the Mark of the Thief series is called RISE OF THE WOLF, and it will release on January 26, 2016.

If you missed Mark of the Thief, you need to read it before moving on to the second book, but good news – you can easily find a copy:

* In your school or local library (if they don’t already have it, ask them to get it. Say please!);

* Bookstores (hopefully there is one near your houseΒ πŸ˜€);

* Online stores (if there’s not one near your house 😱);

* Scholastic Book Fairs or Clubs.markofthief_XLG

AND while it’s only in hardback now (except for Fairs and Clubs), on December 29th it will become available in paperback (translation: cheaper to buy 😎).

For a quick tutorial on Mark of the Thief, check out the book trailer here:

In RISE OF THE WOLF, Nic’s adventures continue, but he is in far more trouble than ever, accused of possessing a key to a much sought after amulet, and literally in a race for his life.

I love this book and am so excited for you to read it! I haveΒ five galley copies to give away. Here are the rules to try to win:

1. Leave a comment below about a book on your Christmas wish list. (Your odds of winning don’t increase if it’s Mark of the Thief, or one of my other books, but that would be really cool!) You can only enter once, so make your comment count!

2. The contest begins about four seconds after this blog posts, and ends on Sunday, December 13th at 2 pm EST.

3. I will post winners names that day and try to send you an email if I can.

4. This is an international contest.

5. If you win, and have not yet read Mark of the Thief, you have to agree to read Mark of the Thief before you crack the cover of Rise of the Wolf. Otherwise, you won’t understand the book and might not enjoy it as much. That would be sad, and who wants to be sad about winning a contest?

  1. The books that are on my Christmas wish list all have strong female protagonists:
    1. Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
    2. The Rose Society by Marie Lu

  20. I would like to own some of my favorite thief series, with the excuse that I would study the writing when really, I’m just fan-girling over my favorite characters as I reread them over and over! πŸ™‚

-The Ascendance Trilogy by Jennifer A. Nielsen

  21. Well, A NIGHT DIVIDED isn’t on my list anymore, because I have no self control and I went and bought it. And read it. And loved it. πŸ™‚ At the top of my list now are Spirit Animals #6 and #7, and I want my very own copy (as in, not from the library) of Sorcery and Cecelia: or the Enchanted Chocolate Pot. And of course, an ARC of Rise of the Wolf. πŸ™‚

  22. Of course I would love any of your books but I also have the last book in the Lunar Chronicles – Winter on my list!

One for the Murphys by Lynda Mullally Hunt
Fortunately the Milk by Neil Gaiman
    Rump by Lies Shurtliff

  24. My wishlist includes Six of Crows, Their Fractured Light, and Cress by Marissa Meyer. My son’s wishlist includes pre-orders of Escaping Peril (Wings of Fire #8) and Rise of the Wolf! He read Mark of the Thief last month and loved it! So this giveaway is amazing! Thanks so much!!!

  25. Well I would like the first book of the Unwanteds in hardcover because at the moment I already have all of yours. I love your books and would be elated if I got this one. I have literally been waiting for this book to add it to my Christmas list but now I know it will have to be later. πŸ™‚ I loved Mark of a Theif!

  26. My Christmas list is mainly comprised of books, but I managed to shorten the list a bit. Here are a few of my favorites:

    1. The Naturals Series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, along with The Fixer, which is also by her.

    3. See How They Run by Ally Carter, along with Perfect Scoundrels and The Gallagher Girls Series.
    4. Jackaby by William Ritter
    5. So Close To You Series by Rachel Carter
Also, since I own basically every book you’ve written, I am asking for money to purchase Rise Of the Wolf. I absolutely love your books, and am dying to read the next one! By the way, I loved A Night Divided. Merry Christmas!!

  27. 1. Runaway King
    2. Shadow Throne

I have the Shadow Throne and I want the other 2 two. I have read the False Prince 5 times and need an excuse to read it a couple more times.

    3. The outsiders – Hilton – wanted to read this for a long time
    4. Lionboy – Zizou Corder

  28. Most of the things on my Christmas list are books… 😝I

have Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard, The Golden Braid by Melanie Dickerson, The Immortal Nicolas by Glenn Beck, and A Night Devided by Jennifer A. Nielsen!
I’m so excited for this book to come out!

  34. Well, I already own the Ascendance trilogy (like, as soon as I had read the books i went and bought them), unfortunately, though I wouldn’t mind another set for lending out (I’m protective of my preciousessss…
-I really want to read Marvels by Brian Selznick, his books are so creative and have fantastic storylines too.
-His Dark Materials; my favourite series after the Ascendance trilogy
-Atlantis in Peril by T.A.Barron because our library does not have it and it is the sequel to Atlantis Rising which was a great novel.
-All the Land of Stories books by Chris Colfer
-Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel which is a 6 book series and I don’t dare buy the first few books because I hate having an incomplete series on my shelf.
-Little Women, a version with a nice cover image, not one of the babyish girly pink ones.
-A Night Divided, which my lazy library
    still haven’t ordered.
-Books 2 and 3 of the Books of Beginning series, I bought The Emerald Atlas in a bookstore sale once for only $5 (can’t resist cheap books, even ones I’ve never heard of) and absolutely adore it! And, as previously said, I hate not owning the full trilogy/series.
    Well, I could go on… πŸ˜›
I should probably ask for a bookshelf too πŸ˜€
Merry Christmas Mrs Nielsen and everyone else πŸ™‚

I got to meet her earlier this year at my local library and she is hands down the coolest person I’ve ever met. She wrote offensive things in Latin on a whole bunch of tests and none of her teachers bothered to look up what it said. That obviously makes her practically a god, at least in my book.

Rise of the Wolf of course!
And pretty much any other Shannon Hale book because I love her!!

  77. Merry Christmas!
I really enjoyed reading “The False Prince” series. I thought they were
excellent books. If I had to choose a top book to put on my Christmas wish list though, it’d probably be “The Emperor’s Soul,” by Brandon Sanderson. I thought that it was really brilliantly done, as well as impressed by the amount of detail it covered with so few pages.

All Fall Down and See How They Run by Ally Carter
The Forgotten Sisters by Shannon Hale
And also a bunch more but that’s just a couple.

  84. One of the predominant books on my Christmas wish list is the illustrated version of “The Sorcerer’s Stone” by J.K. Rowling. I love those books, and great art, so it is the perfect combination of both!

    Merry Christmas! πŸ™‚

  85. 1.Rise of the wolf by Jennifer A. Nielsen and that is all i want. reason being is i was so hooked on mark of the thief i did my reading fair board on it and i want to read rise of the wolf because it sounds entreating.

  86. The only book I have on my Christmas list besides Rise of the Wolf is Prince Caspian! I already read Mark of the Thief and really liked it. I actually bought it at my school book fair. I am also reading The Trojan War and A Horse and His Boy (by C.S.Lewis) but that one isn’t as exciting as The Magicican’s Nephew and The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe. Please consider me for a advanced copy! Thanks and Merry Christmas.

  87. My Christmas wishlist is:

-The Rose Society by Marie Lu because I loved The Young Elites and how it was told by a person who turned out to be the antagonist of the story.
-Good Enough by Paula Yoo because it’s such a relatable book for students.
-The Runaway King because I own The False Prince and I read that book a lot because it is my favorite book and whenever I’m done with The False Prince I always want to read more but never can because I don’t have the next book!
-Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell because the title describes my life perfectly.

I love most of the books I have read and hope I see the books turned into movies soon.

  89. Hmmm….I ‘d probably say The Golem and the Jinni, by Helene Wecker. I’ve read it before and would absolutely LOVE to have a copy of my own! Other than that, anything at all written by J.K Rowling, and anything that falls into the fantasy genre. Merry Christmas, Jennifer!

  90. I don’t think I can choose just one book for my Christmas list, so I’ll go with my top five:
    1. Hawthorn by Carol Goodman – I’ve read it and it’s SO good. Perfect finale to the series.
    2. Untamed, A.G. Howard – I’m DYING for more of her Wonderland.
    3. Undaunted Hope, Jody Hedlund – a good Christian historical is always on my list
    4. Stars Above, Marissa Meyer – finishing Winter just wasn’t good enough. I need MORE.
    5. Glass Sword, Victoria Aveyard – I desperately need to get back into this world.

I could go on and on. For me, any book is always the right answer!

  91. Black Dove White Raven
    Six of Crows
    A Thousand Nights
    Thor’s Serpents
    A Night Divided

    And many more!
However, I use my public library religiously, so I’m okay if I don’t get them all.

  92. As I have never been disappointed by a Jennifer Nielsen book and Sage continues to be one of my favorite protagonists of all times…I want The Ascendance Trilogy for my classroom. I haven’t read A House Divided yet, so that’s definitely on my list. Finally, I have to find out what happens to Nic, so I need Rise of the Wolf!

  93. Ms. jen! I will regret if i didn’t join this contest. I will make this fast.

I listened to the audiobook and I loved it! I’m hoping to get a finished copy of it.

Those are just a few of many!

Thank you for the chance!!! Merry christmas πŸ™‚

  95. Jennifer, I thought I would leave a comment, although an ARC of your book should probably go to a student. As a teacher, I can pre-order my own copy;-)

    Book wishlist for the holidays:
    The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah
Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone
The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness
Paper Things by Jennifer Richard Jacobson
The Seventh Most Important Thing by Shelley Pearsall
The Weight of Feathers by Anna-Marie McLemore

I didn’t make it to NCTE this year, but hopefully I will see you next year in Atlanta!

  96. Hello Mrs.Nielsen,
I was wondering if you were going to post the winner’s names? It’s nearly 9 PM EST and I believe the contest ended about seven hours ago. I’m very sorry to bother you, it’s just that I’m so excited πŸ˜€

    • Sorry Rashida – I will do it as soon as I can, but it’s just turned into a crazy day.

  97. The top book on my Christmas wish list is The Crown by Kiera Cass, fifth book in the Selection series. I read the series a few weeks ago and now I started rereading it already! (I don’t think I’ve ever reread a series so soon besides the Ascendance Trilogy, which I could read a thousand times over!) The Crown doesn’t come out until May, but maybe someone will surprise me with an ARC copy (fingers crossed ☺). Though getting Rise of the Wolf would definitely surpass any other present! Merry Christmas!

  98. Hi! I was wondering if you’ll be posting the winning names on your site? Or is there somewhere else I should be looking? Or if there is any news that I missed? Thank you! (Also good luck to everyone who entered!)

    • Let me do that right now, Dakota!

      • Wow you must be really busy. Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year.
