I never intended to write a World War 2 / Holocaust-era novel. My respect for the stories of that period is so high that I wondered how I could possibly add anything new enough, valuable enough, to matter.
But the story found me.
A few years ago, I was in Poland for a school visit and with my husband touring the former Jewish ghetto in Krakow. The more I saw, and learned, the more sacred these streets became.
Various plaques had been set up around the ghetto to explain the significance of that specific place. But one in particular caught my eye. It referenced the underground theater of the ghetto. As a theater major, I was curious to learn more, so I took a picture of those words to remind myself to research them later.
When I did, I was disappointed at how little I found, requiring me to continually dig deeper, which led me to the Jewish underground in Krakow, the resistance movement there. Which led me to a story I absolutely could not get out of my head.
Over the summer months, I will share with you the true history of the Jewish resistance movement in Poland and how my research led to the creation of this book.
RESISTANCE is the story of the Jewish teenagers who decided they would not die on their knees to the Nazis. Instead, they would fight them. It is a fiction story but based heavily on real events. It will be released on August 28, 2018, but you can pre-order your copy now.
And nowβ¦the winner of βWhere in the World is Jennifer Nielsen?β who will receive a signed arc of RESISTANCE.

We’ll play it again maybe this fall, and next time you’ll do better. No worries – that’s just part of learning.
Actually, did I get any wrong? I don’t think I did, now that I checked the ones I had thought I did.

Thanks for letting me know! I didn’t think that I would not be able to see my answers to check. Next time, I will cut and paste to a word doc to keep track. I will be checking out a pre-order soon.
Thank you. And yeah, I have to block out the answers or else it makes the game a bit too easy for anyone who follows behind the others! π
Good job TIRZAH! Thanks for doing the giveaway! π
You’re very welcome!
Yay Tirzah!! PLEASE do this again Jennifer!!
Thanks for the giveaway and great job to the winner! If it’s not too embarrassing can you tell me what my score was? I can’t even remember most of my answers. I seriously can’t wait for RESISTANCE to come out!! I just learned all about the Holocaust and WWII in school and I did a big assignment on it. I like learning about history, even if it’s a little depressing at times. But it’s cool stories like these in history that help us learn, grow, and be better people.;) Thanks again! It was fun and cool to see all the awesome places you visited.
You got all of them correct, Jamie – congrats on that! And I hope you’ll love RESISTANCE!
I got all of them?! I thought for sure I had gotten at least two wrong. I’m pretty sure I’m going to love RESISTANCE!! Thanks!
It’s a day early, but Happy Mother’s Day!! I hope you have a good day!

Thanks Hajir! As I recall, you had all of them correct but one. Not bad at all!
Ah okay, thank you!
It is really fascinating to learn how an author was inspired to write a book. Thank you for sharing your story! Well, to be honest, historical fiction is not really my genre of interest, so I can’t say I am waiting for its release, but I’d like to give Resistance a shot. I do hope Resistance hits the bestselling lists. π
Thank you, and for the record, I wouldn’t be opposed to it hitting the list either! π

And by the way I think next time you should also post the full points holders list or the list of participants with their scores just as Micah suggested…because a lot of people are interested in knowing their scores…including me (if it’s possible) π
