YAY! This is so exciting!! I’ve loved your work ever since I read the first paragraph of The False Prince a few years ago. You have been an inspiration to me. Truly. The False Prince made me love reading. YOU made me love reading. Because of you, I want to be an author and bring joy to other people, like you have brought joy to me. I can’t wait to read this book, whether I win it or buy it! Okay, enough of the mushy stuff 😂😁 I found this recipe, and I think it sounds pretty good!

So I actually found this recipe for roasted cauliflower soup in the Love Real Food vegetarian cookbook and it is absolutely delicious!! Definitely rather time consuming and it may look odd while in the process of making, but it is a phenomenal soup. My entire family enjoyed it so I would recommend making double the servings if you plan on having seconds! https://cookieandkate.com/2018/creamy-roasted-cauliflower-soup-recipe/

Also, I cannot wait for the release!! I’m so excited for my copy of THE DECEIVER’S HEART to arrive!

Our favorite food is Mexican. So, I know it’s not too romantic, but we love street tacos. You put a beef roast in the crock pot, pour a jar of peperoncini peppers and juice over the roast and cook till done. (4-6 hours on high if frozen) Then shred the beef, remove the stems from peppers, and eat with the cute little corn tortilla street tacos. Top the way you’d like! Super easy and very yummy!

Okay, so I have dabbling in desserts lately. I am not great, but since I figured out my dairy allergy if I want dessert I need to make it myself. Recently I found a great recipe for frozen hot chocolate from the cookbook Chocolate Covered Katie. Yeah it is cold, but this stuff is worth it. What you need is a 1/3 can of full fat coconut milk, 2tbs coco power, 2/3 cup milk of choice (I used almond) 1/2 tps vanilla, pinch of salt and 1 tbs of some sort of sweetener (I used stevia). You can either microwave it stirring intermittently, or I brought to a boil on the stove stirring till smooth. Put into an ice tray and let freeze, when ready take out drop into blender add some of the extra coconut milk and mix. Pour out into fancy glasses and top with whip cream of choice. This dessert is so rich and creamy it rivals ice cream. If you try it I hope you enjoy

Hi! Thank you for the giveaway, I love to read this arc ♥
For Valentine’s day I made an easy dessert maybe two years ago. My then boyfriend loves white chocolate, so I made white chocolate pudding and freezed in small heart-form bowls. First, into the bowls I cut strawberries and then I poured the hot pudding on it. It was so pretty – the white puding with the red strawberries in heart-form. 🙂
For main dish I love the chicken recipes with cream. Add some salt and pepper, maybe bacon and spring onion (I don’t know the english word, but the small onion with white gum and long green stem). With pasta or rice it’s delicious! 🙂

I would love to win!!! I have been impatiently waiting for this sequel since I read Traitor’s Game in early fall. We got to meet you in November when you came to our school (Yorkville Middle School) too, and your books have been constantly checked out after your incredible presentation!

Below is the recipe for one of my favorite side dishes. It can be served warm or cold, so it’s perfect for any occasion! Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day meal with the hubster. <3

    Cavatappi Salad

1 box (1 lb.) Cavatappi (corkscrew) pasta
1 cup chopped or shredded Asiago cheese
1 jar sun-dried tomatoes in oil
1 bunch of fresh basil leaves
2-3 cloves chopped garlic (more or less depending on preferences)
    1 tsp. cracked black pepper
    2 tsp. Kosher salt
½ cup pine nuts (more or less depending on preferences)
    Olive Oil

Cook pasta according package directions and drain. In separate bowl, combine sun-dried tomatoes (including oil from jar), garlic and salt, mix to combine. Add to pasta and toss well. Add cheese, basil and pine nuts, toss well. If more oil is needed to fully coat salad, drizzle more and toss until it’s evenly coated.

We first had this salad at Corner Bakery. We loved it so much, we recreated it at home. Many of the amounts are just guesses, so you can tweak it any way you’d like to make it taste perfect for you. It may be eaten warm or cold, and you can double or halve the recipe based on your needs. It tastes great with chicken, or your favorite protein, too!

Death by Chocolate is a dessert to die for lol. Its very simple but delicious.
All you need to do it bake a chocolate cake, cut the cake in slivers or chunks into a glass punch bowl, top with chocolate pudding, then cool whip, then the cake again (You do this two times I think) Then you pour some coffee into it…You finally top off with Cool whip and add a layer Skor Toffee onto the whip. You can then add any fruit of your choice decorated anyway you want onto the cake. You can search it up and Im sure you can find actual recipe…
….Sorry if you dont like this dish hah.

Sadly, the recipe I’d like cannot be found anywhere. I lost it when I moved to the United States. But when I did live overseas, one thing that I still kept from my American culture was chocolate chip cookies. My mother found the recipe through a friend of hers, who found it through another friend, and so far, it’s the best recipe I’ve ever tried. I’d always know when they were finished in the oven, by the familiar golden outline they created around the perimeter.

    Indulgent Recipes:

    Sun-dried Tomato Chicken Alfredo
(Note that you can bump up the quality by making your own alfredo sauce or noodles from scratch if that’s in your culinary wheel-house)

Ingredients (moderate amount to appetite and taste): Jar of high-quality alfredo sauce, shredded parmesan cheese, noodles, jar of sun-dried tomatoes, diced yellow onion, olive oil, thinly-sliced chicken breast or tenderloins, salt, & pepper

Directions: Start preparing a pot of boiling water for the noodles, boiling according to directions when the pot is ready. While the water is warming up, coat the bottom of a saucepan with olive oil and sauté the chicken. Just before the chicken is fully cooked, add the onions in and saute along with the chicken breasts. Add about 1/3 to 1/2 of the jar of sun-dried tomatoes (without the liquid) to the sauté pan. After about 30 seconds-1 minute, pull the chicken out of the pan, leaving the onions and tomatoes behind. Pour the alfredo sauce into the pan, stirring the onions and tomatoes. Spoon in some of the liquid from the jar of sundried tomatoes into the mixture. Sprinkle in parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper to taste. When the cheese is fully melted, incorporate the alfredo with the strained noodles. Plate the noodles and place the chicken on top.

    Lighter Options:

    Chicken Piccata: https://cafedelites.com/garlic-chicken-piccata/

Even though it doesn’t really ‘go’ with Chicken Piccata, I can’t resist sharing this recipe for baklava. I found it online, adjusted it a little, and will probably make it at least once a month for awhile.

Layer Ingredients: 1 (16 ounce) thawed package phyllo dough, 1 cup of melted butter,
1 pound chopped nuts (recommendation: 3/4 lb of pistachios & 1/4 lb of almonds), 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground cardamom, 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg, 1/4 tsp ground cloves, & 2/3 cup of brown sugar

Topping Ingredients: 1 cup water, 1 cup white sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, & 1/2 cup honey

Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter the bottoms and sides of a 9×13 inch pan.

Chop nuts and toss with cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves, and brown sugar. Set aside.

Unroll phyllo dough. Cut whole stack in half to fit pan. Cover phyllo with a dampened cloth to keep from drying out as you work.

Place two sheets of dough in pan, butter thoroughly. Repeat until you have 8 sheets layered. Sprinkle 2 – 3 tablespoons of nut mixture on top. Top with two sheets of dough, butter, nuts, layering as you go for 4-6 layers of toppings. Repeat the 8-layers strategy(2 at a time with butter between) bottom layer for the top as well.

Using a sharp knife cut into diamond or square shapes all the way to the bottom of the pan. You may cut into 4 long rows the make diagonal cuts. Bake for about 50 minutes until baklava is golden and crisp.

Make sauce while baklava is baking, about 25-30 minutes into the bake. Boil white sugar and water until sugar is melted. Add vanilla and honey. Simmer for about 20 minutes.

Remove baklava from oven and immediately spoon sauce over it. Let cool. Serve in cupcake papers. This freezes well. Leave it uncovered as it gets soggy if it is wrapped up.

As for the dinner, I highly suggest this recipe for dessert. Admittedly it may not come out pretty (if you bake like me that is), but the taste is extraordinary! Just make sure to get rid of the excess water from the frozen strawberries and heat up the butter for the icing.

When I was a kid my favorite dessert was baked apples. My mother would core the apples, fill the inside with brown sugar, cinnamon, and raisins (maybe some nuts) and then wrap the apples in a dough. We would eat them with either ice cream or whipped cream. I wish I had the recipe…time to do a google search. But in the meantime here is a yummy apple cake. https://www.cookingclassy.com/irish-apple-cake-custard-sauce/ every time I have made this my cream has curdled, but my teenager has no problem doing it right the first time…and rubbing it in.

I LOVE sweet and sour chicken and the recipe I have for the sauce is:

    1/2 cup ketchup
    1/4 cup vinegar
    2 TBL sp cornstarch
    1/3 cup cold water
    1 chicken bullion cubes

Add the cornstarch to the cold water. Crush up the bullion cube and add it to the water and put the water in a pot on the stove. Add the rest of the ingredients and cook until thickened.
For the chicken I cut it up into bite sized pieces and then I dip it in pancake batter. (Mix up some pancake batter and water, I don’t measure I just do enough if each to make it a good consistency) I have a fryer so I fry each piece, about 15 at a time, for a couple of minutes and then lay on some paper towels. If you want to bake them preheat the oven to 400° melt 1/2 stick of butter on the pan (just stick the pan and butter in the oven until it melts.) Then add the batter covered chicken pieces and bake for 20 mins 🙂

I like making cake balls. I sold a bunch of them per dozen and everyone liked them. It’s my own modified recipe so I don’t have a link, but I’ll write out the recipe below.

    Ingredients:
1 box of red velvet cake mix
1 container of cream cheese icing
1 20oz. bag of vanilla candy melts or white chocolate(I use Ghiradelli)

    Directions:
(1)Bake cake mix according to directions in a 9×13 pan and let cool.
(2)Crumble cake into a large bowl and start by adding one large spoonful of the cream cheese icing. Using an electric mixer, mix it together, gradually adding spoonfuls of icing until mixture is smooth but not sticky.
(3)Roll the mixture into one-inch balls and place them on a 9×13 pan(I usually rinse out the pan I baked the cake mix in and use that). Cover pan with plastic wrap and put it in the freezer for half an hour.
(4)Melt the white chocolate or candy melts in the microwave on 15-second intervals, stirring in between. Be careful because if you have the chocolate in the microwave for too long it will scorch and start looking grainy. You want all the chocolate melted, but not any longer than necessary.
(5)Set out a piece of parchment paper, and get the cake balls out of the freezer.
(6)Drop cake ball in the chocolate/candy melts and gently use a spoon to cover the entire thing with white chocolate. Scoop up cake ball and gently tap the side of the bowl to smooth the surface of cake ball. Over the parchment paper, tip the cake ball off the spoon, dragging the spoon so the excess chocolate doesn’t pool underneath the cake ball[This will take a few cake balls to master…trust me, been there, done that:)]. Use a toothpick to separate excess chocolate from cake ball.
(7)Let them harden, and they’re ready to eat!

NOTE: I make this recipe to sell, and it makes about two dozen cake balls. If that’s too many, then you can follow steps 1-3, and after doing that, put the cake balls in a ziploc bag and put them in the freezer. The longest I’ve had them in the freezer is about four months, but they may stay good longer. When you want more, just take them out of the freezer, leave them in the fridge overnight and follow steps 4-7. Hope you enjoy!!!

My husband and I will either cook together on Valentine’s Day or put together something simple so we can spend the time together and not slaving over the stove. You have a lot of great recipes posted here for Valentine’s Day and beyond! I’m looking forward to trying some myself. Here are a couple of suggestions for you:

    https://www.weightwatchers.com/us/recipe/individual-chocolate-souffles-2/5626a6252084d63a3401b1f3
These individual chocolate souffles are so easy to make, delicious, and low-calorie (for a yummy dessert)! We tried them one year and have made them again and again. You can make your own chocolate milk for the recipe if you don’t want to buy something that’s commercially prepared.

Also, when we want to sit and chat over a slow meal, sometimes we put together an antipasto platter which you can build to your tastes. I usually buy a chewy loaf of bread and my platter usually includes some of these items: italian meats and cheeses (my market sells pre-packaged selections of both!), olive oil, pesto, roasted red peppers and/or roasted tomatoes, olives, and artichoke hearts.

    Enjoy!

My mom made these super amazing Chocolate chip cookies this year for Valentines day which my dad absolutely loves!! They are soft and moist, the chocolate chips are gooey when first out of the oven, and the outer edges are crisp creating an amazing layer of texture!

The recipe is simple and is on the back of every Nestle Toll House semi sweet chocolate chip bag, and the recipe is also the first chocolate chip recipe ever!

Happy Valentines day and I hope your husband will love whatever you make for him!

Whoops ran out of space 😂
    Continued:
Stir in sifted cake mix with other cake ingredients until smooth
Remove a heaping 1/2 cup batter and place in small bowl, add cherry juice (I add a little extra) until smooth
Place 1-2 tsp of cherry batter in bottom of cupcake liner, add more batter until 3/4 full bake for 17-22 min ish. (Since Utah is a higher elevation, i usually add an extra Tbsp of flour)

For buttercream: beat butter for 2 min; add extracts and cherry juice Slowly add powdered sugar until desired consistency.
Sorry that this recipe is so long!! But it’s surprisingly easy and really tasty. Happy Valentines Day!!!!

I love this amazing dish called Lumpia. It’s like a Filipino version of spring rolls. They make every meal infinitely better. They’re best if they’re homemade by my grandma, but I guess you could try😜

Here is a recipe that my family and I have made for all our favorite holidays: Strawberry Soup

In a blender you combine two packages of frozen strawberries, half-and-half cream (adjust amount based on how sour it is at first), an approximately equal amount vanilla yogurt as the frozen strawberries, and some milk and possibly sugar based on preference. A lot of this dish is a taste and adjust preparation, but the final product is sweet and addictive. I think your family would love it!

Happy Valentines Day and thank you so much for another giveaway!

Because I need to “sneak” vegetables into my families’ meals, I have been using cauliflower rice instead of actual rice. You can make it yourself (I’m pasting the link to how to do this) and then season and eat it raw, or cook and season as desired to match your main dish or tastes. Cuts way down on calories and carbs.
