Traitor’s Game (+ Winners)

Congratulations to the winners from last week!

Kimber * * * * Emily Welte * * * * Tasneem W

Emails have been sent! If you didn’t win, no worries – your entries so far will accumulate for future entries, so continue to enter each week!

This week in Publisher’s Weekly, an announcement went out about the new series I’m working on to follow Mark of the Thief. Here it is:

Lisa Sandell at Scholastic Press has acquired Jennifer A. Nielsen’s new series, The Traitor’s Game, in which a privileged girl is forced by the rebellion to obtain the one item capable of bringing down her own country, but ends up discovering a secret far more dangerous. The first book in the trilogy is set for spring 2018; Ammi-Joan Paquette of Erin Murphy Literary Agency brokered the deal for world rights.

I am ridiculously excited about this series and will tell you a lot more about it over the next year. I’ve completed the first draft already but a lot more editing is needed.

For this week’s giveaway, let’s have some fun. THE SCOURGE will release on August 30th. Instead of a comment, post an emoji that best represents what you think THE SCOURGE will be like.

And I thought there was supposed to be four winners in a week?

There were, but I’m running out of some items faster than others and wanted to preserve some stuff for those who win nearer the end of summer, so they don’t feel that they are picking among leftovers. I’ll increase the winners again if I can get more stuff.

I don’t post these often (read ever) but here goes
    🎢

I think like many of your other novels it will be like a roller coaster of ups and downs for a character we grow to like. This character will sometimes feel like they are losing their mind. Like my first roller coaster experience.

🔄 I think “The Scourge” will have many twists and turns, plot twists a plenty and many surprises- in both where the story is going and about the characters even when you think you know them well. You might think one way at first, but it might be ending up turned around as you continue reading. Is this okay to explain the emoji?

I think the scourge is going to be filled funny moments that will make you “laugh ’till you drop”, it’s going to make me really scared from all the suspense that’s building up, and i feel like there’s going to be plot twists that are unbelievably shocking, and will leave me heartbroken.
Congratulations to all the winners last week.

I’m so excited for Traitor’s Game! It looks really interesting. As for The Scourge, I think this sums up what my reactions will be while reading it:
    :'( :O ☺ 😀

I’ll be sad in some parts, shocked in others, pleased in others, and simply thrilled in others.

I couldn’t figure out how to put an emoji on here so I will just explain what emojis I would put.

    1. A fist because Ani and Weevil are going to have to fight to save everyone and stop the Scourge.
    2. A twister because there will be a lot of unexpected twists and turns that Ani and Weevil will have to deal with.
    3. A broken heart to represent the sacrifices and hardship they might go through.

W(`0`)W – because it kinda looks like “wow”, and by the end of reading your books that’s usually the first thing I say, due to the twists and turns of the plot and the intricate characters. I know it’s not really an emoji :).

If the first entry doesn’t count, here’s a second:

🕸 – Because of the almost web-like chain of events, intriguing characters that lure you to the centre of the web, when finally the plot sweeps you up and consumes your thoughts and actions, and when you’re released/finished the book you have no idea what hit you.

If those don’t work, I’ll describe them. One is a totally mesmerized emoji for all the intense parts I know will be plentiful. The other is a laughing emoji for all the hilarious parts that will be equally – if not more – abundant. I can’t wait to see what sort of jokes you’ve cooked up for this one, Ms. Nielsen. 😉

For the emojis, I’d probably choose a danger sign, because the characters in the Scourge are probably going to go on lots of perilous adventures. Also a mountain, because I bet they’ll be some terrible cliffhangers. And a big smiley face and a heart, because that’s how I’ll react when I finish The Scourge.
I’m so excited for Traitor’s Game! A new trilogy!
    Thanks for the giveaway!
