INDIE PAY-IT-FORWARD

The winner of the Indie Bookstore Pay it Forward contest is: KATIE (From May 14th comment), who asked for a signed copy of THE FALSE PRINCE.

The copy I buy to give her will come from my local indie, The King’s English Bookshop.

Even if you didn’t win, please consider buying a book from your local indie. You can find the closest one by entering your Zip Code HERE. Keep your dollars in your community and people employed where you live. Or you can buy from any indie HERE, which is still really great.

Beginning in June, I’m going to release some short stories in the world of Carthya. So, in the comments below, please answer this question:

WHAT MISSING SCENE FROM “THE FALSE PRINCE” WOULD YOU MOST LOVE TO READ ABOUT?

  1. A day in the life of Sage.
  2. When Sage first comes to Mrs. Turbeldy’s Orphanage.
  3. Conner preparing to set his plan into motion.
  4. What Roden does at the end of book 1 and before the start of THE RUNAWAY KING.
  5. Something else (be careful on spoilers in the comments)?

If you have not yet read these books, you can always purchase them from your local bookstore, or find them at your library. Scholastic is also offering digital copies of all of the first three books + a sneak peak of THE CAPTIVE KINGDOM for only $3.99, which is an amazing price. Click HERE for more info.

I think a short stories I would like to hear about would have to be about Roden. Congratulations Katie, and thank you Jennifer for giving us the opportunity. 🙂

Either a day in the life of Sage or what Roden does at the end of The False Prince, please. Thank you!

This just made my whole year!! I cannot believe this is happening. I literally just finished making a 131 paper long paper chain for The Captive Kingdom and then figured out this news. I cannot believe it!! Hopefully you got my response to the E-mail (for some reason I’m really scared it didn’t) You are amazing!! Keep writing!!!

As for the question, a day in the life of Sage would be the best for me. I would love to see how he acted and what he did not always running for his life 🙂

When Sage comes to the orphanage. I think this would be cool! And also Congrats to Katie for winning the book!

Oh my gosh, I can’t wait for the short stories!! I would love #2 the most (when sage first goes to the orphanage), but I’m sure they would all be so amazing! Also another idea is you could do a story from Imogen’s perspective, maybe about her life and backstory with Conner or something about when she meets Jaron. I think it would be really fun to read something from her perspective. Whatever you write, I can’t wait to read it, and I can’t wait for The Captive Kingdom. Thank you for writing such amazing books!!

Congrats Katie! I would love to see a short story about when Sage goes to Mrs. Turbeldy’s orphanage, and the time leading up to it right after he talks to King Eckbert. Any of these options sounds amazing, though, and I can’t wait to see what you write! Also, because we’re all so anxiously waiting for The Captive Kingdom, do you think you will be releasing any excerpts from that before its release in October? Thanks!

ALL of those potential scenes sound so fun… #3 sounds really interesting to me! or, for #5, maybe something featuring Mott? I think he’s the unspoken favorite character of the fan base! I look forward to whatever you write regardless! 🙂

Could you please tell us what Roden does at the end of The False Prince? I’d love to see why he made the sort of decisions he made. Also, who did that cool illustration of Tobias, Roden, and Sage?

I really want to say all of the above but if I have to pick one, I think I would be most interested in seeing a day in the life of Sage at the orphanage. Or maybe some of Imogen’s backstory. Or Amarinda’s (She’s my favorite girl character in the book.)

Oooh! Um… I think either 1 or 3. Or maybe near the end when Sage goes back to his childhood room to get a sword… (Haha, trying not to spoil anything.)

Probably what Roden does in between the books, because there’s a lot going on by the events of The Runaway King. A day in the life of Sage would be more fun though…

He is nearly 15 at the start of the first book.

I would love to read ALL of them, but if I had to pick one, I would do #1. I would want to know what he did before the whole Conner ordeal. Especially what he thought about.

In the illustration above, I’m assuming the boy on the left is Tobias, but is Jaron the one in the middle or the one on the right?

Is all of the above an option? I would definitely want to read about what Roden does after book 1

I would love to read all of these, but since I have to choose, I would really like to read 1 or 2. I also think Audrey’s idea of Imogen’s meeting with Sage from her perspective would be very interesting.
My brother votes for number 2. I’m also very excited for “The captive kingdom” and “Rescue”

I would love to see what Rosen does between The False Prince and The Runaway King, but I also want to learn more about the kids at Sage’s orphanage. Here’s an idea, which I hope gives out no spoilers, I want to see what Amarinda and Tobias did while they were together!

Short stories are my absolute favs as a writer! These are all amazing, but I think that I would love to hear a kinda collection of stories from all the boys (and maybe Imogen and Amarinda too) their life before Conner came and screwed with it. Like Roden, and Tobias’s early life, Sage’s pre-Mrs. Turbeldy’s Orphanage life, Imogen before her mom left, Amarinda as a young princess, etc. Like I was thinking when they were all around 10ish? I would love to hear about them as children!

Really, anything related to Ascendance would be awesome!

SPOILER ALERT FOR THE FALSE PRINCE

But my first choice for a scene would be Jaron’s actions & thought process to figure out what was behind the deaths of his family. He just drops it down on everyone at the end of TFP, but I’d like to see what triggered him to suspect Conner, which nights during his stay at Farthenwood did he decide to search for information, which places he searched and how his search led him to Conner’s office – in short, I’d like to know all the details of his search. 🙂

If that’s not possible, my second choice would be a day in the life of Jaron as a prince, before he got sent away.

Oh this is exciting! Hmmm let’s see… I would love to read about a day in the life of Sage and maybe also a day in the life of Prince Jaron before he got sent away (like who his friends were, what interactions did he make with the other royals, hanging out with his brother, his relationship with his father and mother, etc). Another thing that I would love to read about is more about Imogen! I really would love to read something in her perspective, we don’t know much about her and I think that it would just be really interesting.

Congrats Katie! I would love to read more about Sage the orphan. I just finished The False Prince for the millionth time (not joking), and I found his life as Sage very interesting, like how he stole stuff, time with the priest, and all. (I’m dying to pick all of them. Can you do all 1-5 please?)

I would love to hear Imogen and Amarinda’s backstory, or if possible, a day in the life of Prince Jaron. It would also be nice to hear about Roden at the ending of the False Prince. I completely forgot that Cregan died at the end and am in the middle of a reread of the series, and these scenes would be amazing to read. If you can do so, I would love to hear all of the above. I am beyond, beyond, beyond excited for the release of The Captive Kingdom. Thank you so much!
