Thank you! Jennifer Nielsen October 22, 2013

Thank you!

A few weeks ago, I posted a request on this blog for anyone who might be interested in voting for Yalsa’s 2013 Teens’ Top Ten List. The votes were counted and today, Yalsa announced their winners and, THE FALSE PRINCE took 2nd place, coming in behind the amazing, Printz-award winning CODE NAME VERITY by Elizabeth E. Wein.

2nd PLACE! You did that – YOU!

At first I was like…

And then I was like…

And always, for reading, and voting, and recommending these books to others, to each of you, I will say…

If you want to see the entire Top Ten (and they are all wonderful), then you can find it here.

“Wicked.” Congratulations on getting 2nd place! The False Prince definitely deserves that. It’s an impressive book with an impressive accomplishment in this contest. I forgot how much I voted for it though. XP

Wow, I’ve never been the first to comment. It feels like going into foreign territory. I know what I’m doing, but it still feels strange. A good strange though! I’M SO HAPPY THE FALSE PRINCE GOT SECOND PLACE!!!!! 😀 Honestly, it’s #1 for me (I voted for it at least fifty times, you laugh, but I’m serious). I want to check out some of those books, they look good. The entire time I was biting my nails in anticipation and praying The False Prince would come up on top. You are an amazing author and totally deserved being one of the top 3!

Thank you, Brinley! The other books, both nominated and top tenners, are really good. Some of my personal favorites are on that list.

I’m not sure how, but my comment disappeared within a couple minutes. My brother posted a comment and mine somehow went poof! Whatever. 😛 If it’s still there and I posted the comment a second time I’m going to feel stupid.
Anyways, I am SO HAPPY you got 2nd place! The False Prince is #1 for me though. Without a doubt. You are the best author ever and absolutely deserve to be in the top 10! It’s am amazing book! The entire time I was practically trembling in anticipation and praying the False Prince would be in the top ten (I voted at least 50 times. You laugh, but I’m completely serious.) I’m so happy for you and the False Prince!

Hey Jennifer! I voted 20 times for False Prince! I told all my other friends and they each voted 10 times!!! I LOVE False Prince SOOOOOOOOO much! It’s my new favorite book! We have a program called Lamplighters at my middle school and False Prince is one of the books we have to read. All my friends have read the book and are voting for it! You’ve definitely inspired me more to become an author when I grow up! I’m reading the Runaway King now!
    Keep writing!

    Hey Ms. Jennifer!
Me again. First, I would like to tell you: CONGRATULATIONS!!
I think you deserve first place. But Congrats on getting second!
umm, question… In your Bio it says: “Her first attempt at a full-length story was in 6th grade when she wrote about a girl who becomes trapped in her daydreams and that world becomes real”
That sounds like Alice in Wonderland. Did you get your idea from that story? And since now you are older, the locksmith will take you seriously. So maybe when you are done with the series you are working on, you could continue writing that story. I would love to hear it.
    BTW, Who’s your favorite author?

    Thank you!

Thanks for the congrats, and for your questions, Jubilee! I appreciate your interest in that story, but I think it’s best to leave it back in 6th grade. 😉

And for a favorite author – there’s no way I could begin to list all the authors I love. But the author who got me writing was S.E. Hinton (The Outsiders) and for that, I will always love her!

2nd place? SWEET! I prefer 1st place for the book, but 2nd place is still amazing! More people at my school are reading it ^-^ (Maybe because they got tired of me shoving the book in their faces)

Ha, I actually laughed at the photo’s you posted 😛

Yay!! I’m so excited that The False Prince got second! (It would’ve been awesome if it had gotten first, but still, it’s cool!) I was very excited because The False Prince was chosen for the book club I am in, and that meant that I finally got to introduce the world of Carthya and the Ascendance Trilogy to three of my friends. 😀 They all seemed to love it, and it was great having discussions with them about the book. Thanks for being one of my inspirations when I am writing!
