THE SHADOW THRONE ARC giveaway Jennifer Nielsen December 1, 2013

THE SHADOW THRONE ARC giveaway

TST_largeOkay, I’ve been promising this for several weeks. Here it is!

I am giving away a total of SIX galley copies of THE SHADOW THRONE.

You ask, what is a galley? A galley (a.k.a. ARC: Advanced Review Copy) is a paperback version of the book meant to be sent to reviewers and bookstore buyers. They are not for resale and sometimes have typos because they are printed early. Occasionally, the author gets her sticky little hands on a few copies and can give them away to awesomes out there like YOU!

The contest runs from RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE until Sunday Dec. 15, 2013. At which point I’ll get a notification of the winners and ship everything out as soon as you contact me with a mailing address. There are many ways to enter.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

I wish everyone could win, but alas, my hands are not sticky enough for all of you. If you don’t win just know that February 25, 2014 (the release date) is coming soon, and I hope everyone will have a chance to find a copy then.

Fight for the Future. Die for the Throne.

War is Coming…

This is quite possibly the most well written set of novels I have had the pleasure of reading. I am hoping that Jaron will find contentment in final book. I can’t wait to read!

I absolutely LOVED The False Prince, but I’m waiting until I get my hands The Shadow Throne before reading The Runaway King – so I can binge-read the entire series and save myself some of the year-long wait heartache between books. Therefore, I have no idea what to expect in the final book, but I’m hoping for the same stellar writing and masterfully executed plotting that made the first book one of my favorite reads of all time!

Thank you for the giveaway!! 🙂

I’ve loved these books since there was only one wonderful, battered book sitting on my shelf. Now there are two, and once again I’m waiting for the next one. This time I’m a bit more on the ball, and have actually been waiting for ARCs, instead of forgetting about them until a week before the book came out . . .
In Shadow Throne I want to see Jaron come into his own as a king, I want to see Imogen rescued and safe, and I want to watch Jaron once again save the day. Also, I have this sneaking feeling that the royal family isn’t quite as dead as we might think. I don’t know if that’s just me . . .

I teach Sophomore English on a tiny island called Guam. When I received a grant a few years ago from our local IRA chapter, I took the opportunity to buy a class set of The False Prince and have since introduced my classes to the series. When The Runaway King came out in hardcover I ordered, savored, and then put it up for lending. The students quickly started a waiting list to read it. Thankfully Scholastic started offering both books in paperback. That book order was the most I’d ever put in! My students are all patiently waiting for this third and final installment. Thank you, Jen, for the series. It’s given me a connection to these students that I might never have had. Former students still check in with me to chat about them. Your fans on Guam can’t wait!

This is an amazing series. I haven’t read a book in a while that I couldn’t put down until I read this series. It’s on top of my list with Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, and the Hunger Games. I want to know if Jaron will be able to find happiness in his life.

I can’t wait to read The Shadow King! I’m hoping for a conclusion that leaves Jaron more secure on his throne, and a (hopefully satisfying) resolution of his relationships with both young women. But I’m also hoping for Sage/Jaron to pull more rabbits out of hats, metaphorically speaking — to pull off something brilliant that brings about a solution to his and his country’s problems. And I have a sneaking suspicion that we haven’t seen the end of a few of those pirates and thieves, either.

In the last book i think i want to see a somewhat happy ending for everyone, but with some sort of large problem that Jaron uses to resolve and I hope he and Imogen get married or are in some relationship and i hope things work out well for Amarinda and for Tobias and for all the characters

I LOVE THIS BOOK SERIES! My family reads it together in the hallway and we all need the 3rd book so bad it hurts! My bro came over while I was typing this and said he needed the computer for HW. I told him I was trying to win the 3rd Ascendance Trilogy book and he backed off gasping. The main things I hope to see in the 3rd book is the love triangle being wrapped up well, epic battles, and Jaron’s kick-butt attitude 🙂 I LOVE JARON AND HIS WITTY COMEBACKS! I will cry (and faint) if I can get my hands on the 3rd book early. Literally.

Sorry, Jennifer, I’m not sure if you only wanted one thing we wanted out of the book or multiple things. If you’d rather have only one thing, then ignore my last comment! If I had to chose ONE thing I’d want in The Shadow Throne, it’d be Jaron and Imogen kissing for the first time!!!! It’d be so cute, and would probably lighten the mood on all the blood and grime war brings throughout the book.

This series is literally my favorite series ever! It is so suspenseful and I have been looking forward to the Shadow Throne ever since I first saw the announcement! I pre-ordered it to my Kindle three months ago, and I have kept a countdown on my iPad. Every day I tell my friends how excited I am, to the point where they are telling me to shut up. I am totally on Team Amarinda, and I really hope to see them get together! You are my favorite author EVER, and it would be my literal dream for you to at least read this, let alone reply. When I found out about this contest, I screamed and started slapping m friend who was sitting next to me. I am so thankful for you for writing this series, and really don’t know what to expect in the last book except a beautifully written adventure like the first two books! I recommended this book to my school librarian, and hopefully she is getting the final book when it comes out in February. It would make my entire life if I could get my hands on one of these!!!! I recommend this series to anyone who loves surprising twists and page-turning suspense. Finally, I love Jaron!! He is like my true love, and can’t wait to see more of him in the Shadow Throne!

And, I forgot to say what I wanted to see in the final book. I hope to read about how Jaron using his cunning style of doing things, somewhat fights his way through conquering Avenia. I hope to also find betrayal because I think its key to the first two books( Partially Roden and Cregan in the first and only Roden in the second.)Sage also tends to betray in a unharmful way usually for the truth to stay hidden, but I like it that way! B.T.W. I would absolutely die to get my hands on The Shadow Throne wother your signature on it!

I am excited for the third installment in the Ascendance Trilogy. I have been riding this roller coaster for about a year now, so I can’t wait to finish it. I hope there is mystery, suspense, and of course, action. Mrs. Nielsen, I know you probably don’t remember this, but I emailed you telling you about how big of a fan I was, how I wanted to meet you, and I asked if you were coming to Lancaster County. You told me you were in March and also said you might be able to come to my school. OK — How many caught the humor in the best FINE PRINT EVER WRITTEN?

“Lost or missing entries are not considered the fault of the widget or contest sponsors. . . . All reasonable attempts will be made to deliver the prizes, though post office failures sometimes do occur. It is also possible to have failed delivery of prizes due to any of the following conditions: . . . freak hailstorms, gift package hijacking, rhinoceros trampling, zombie infestation, international apocalypse, or government bureaucratic snafus.”

    Go Jarod! Go Moot!
Imogen you may be the greatest hero’s love interest in literature. Smart. Strong. Loyal. Resourceful. In Love.

If King Arthur had you instead of Guinevere his descendants might still be on the throne!

Can anyone give me a better love interest in literature than Imogen?

I love Natalie Portman (in general) in Thor, but she’s nothing compared to Imogen. Same with Spiderman’s main squeezes. Lois Lane is way down the list. Who else is there that comes close?

Can’t even thing of who they get to portray Imogen in the movie. She needs to be above average looking, but not petite.

My current first choice would be Selena Gomez (girl next door looks, sweet). With Dakota Fanning as Amarinda (classic beauty who also seems nice). Anyone else got thoughts?

I am hoping for some closure in the final book. THe war is coming to Carthya, right? I’m hoping Roden will lead the Carthyan troops to victory, and Fink will give Tobias a tough time. I’m hoping that Jaron will come back from the war alive and since the threat is over, mostly, Imogen will return to live in the castle. I hope Amarinda and Jaron get married, because as my History teacher says, arranged marriages last. Marriages for love end in divorce 50% of the time, but arranged marriages last. Amarinda and Jaron seem commited enough to make it last. Really, I just hope there is a great ending that makes sense why it ended that way because I’ve read many books that had endings that seemed to be pulled from thin air, randomly, as if the author didn’t care how the book ended since it was over. To wrap things up, I hope that The Shadow Throne isn’t like that.

I did tweet, the link’s https://mobile.twitter.com/dpeter4389/status/410264651566292992

Over the summer, my township, along with many others, requires students to complete a summer reading assignment. It was a slightly cloudy day in the season of the Bard of Avon’s Dream where I fancied myself a trip to the library. I more or less stumbled upon your book, The False Prince, while I was browsing the teen side of the fiction wall. The shelves on the wall rose high, for they all had to be displayed on that one wall. As i pondered over which book I was to read next, on my long list of “To Read’s”, a glimmer of gold was caught in the corner of my eye. I turned and there, on one of the display tables, was a book. So beautifully was it bound and such a delightful cover had been bestowed upon it that in that moment, I realized that sapphire colored book was destined to be checked out from the library by me. And so, i took the book home and soon realized that the crown on the cover was broken and that it’s name was, “The False Prince”. I thought to myself, “let’s give it a try since it beckons me so.” Alas, after reading the royal blue and the emerald green tales, my mind was left in a desire for more. Day after day I would spend wondering, “But what happened to that lass?” until one day, I decided to look for spoilers. Ah, that forbidden word, how the mere mention of it pains me so, but it was all in a time of desperateness. I soon found out about this tournament which is being held until the fifteenth of the twelfth month. My hunger for another story line in the same manner has caused this message to be written as a monologue. I cannot help it. The excitement can only be contained for so long…. As for my answer to your question of what I am hoping to see in the final book, there is only one thing. I want to see a twist. A twist greater than all of your previous books. I want you to pour your willpower into this book, and give me something that I wouldn’t expect, even in my most wildest fan-fictions. That is all. Thank you for taking the time to read this awfully-written-i-don’t-even-know-thing. And thank you, for the excitement that you have given my mind over the past year. 🙂

I also hope Sage ends up with Amarinda and Imogen ends up with Roden. Thank you so much for writing these wonderful books. They are by far the best fantasy series I’ve read in years.

I am so excited for the Shadow Throne!
This is the first book EVER to have made me want to go in a competition like this.
You are an amazing author, Miss Nielsen. Love it so far <3
I think the book will be about Roden betraying Jaron again… just to twist it a bit!
I also think that Imogen and Jaron will have a happy ending together… but right at the end. Tobias might teach Jaron, and their friendship bonds more. Maybe Darius is alive and Princess Amarinda lives happily with him in peace. The big war would be soon coming, and Jaron might fight for Carthya.
    It's so EXCITING!!

I imagine leaving 3-books’ worth of imagination is both difficult and liberating. Difficult because the characters are like family. Liberating because you get to turn your creative muse to new challenges.

Good luck with the next project!

My entry: I hope to see closure. If Jaron and Imogen can get together, (I don’t know, Does Jaron have a cousin the Princess can marry??) then I can’t wait to read it. I really hope to see just more of the awesome characters that light up the pages, especially Fink, since I just love him and his ability to get on everybody’d nerves just by talking, and I really want to know more about Jaron’s family and to read more about Nila and her grandfather. Tobias and Mott I hope have a big role in this book; as long as we still get to see them and their interactions. Basically, I hope for closure that comes with the end of a great trilogy!

I just hope to see more of Nila, Harlowe, Tobias, Mott and the others for a final goodbye. If there is any way that Imogen and Jaron could be together (I don’t know, maybe Jaron has a cousin the Princess could marry??) then I can’t wait to read it. Right after reading the Runaway King (which was awesome by the way) I’m dreading the war for Carthya, and am wondering how this will be written. I hope everything gets mostly resolved (hopefully everything gets covered) and overall, I just hope for a great closure the an entertainingly wonderful trilogy.

What I really want to see in this book: a happy ending for Jaron, a dramatic finale, lots of action, a book that leaves me satisfied when I’m finished with it. The previous two books were very good! I have high expectations for the last enstallment!! I’m sure it won’t dissapoint!

I am so excited for the 3rd book! Ever since I’ve found out date it was going to come out, I’ve been counting down the months and soon it will be the days and hours. Ever since I got my hands on the first book, this series has been my favorite.
Gosh, what do I think will happen in The Shadow Throne? I think someone big will die, as sad as it would be. Someone like Princess Amarinda or Imogen, just to solve the love problem for Jaron. I also think that somehow, Conner is the one who saves the day at the end.
Its hard to predict what will happen, though, because there could be so many different outcomes. Thank you so much for creating a wonderful book for me to read! This series has made my life. I’m going to be very sad when this series ends but I will cherish these books forever.
Thanks so much and I’ll be looking forward to your new series coming out in 2015 or so!
