The Shadow Throne, Quote 5 Jennifer Nielsen February 24, 2014

The Shadow Throne, Quote 5

TST_large

Today is the final quote from THE SHADOW THRONE. Why the final one? Because the book releasesΒ tomorrow! If you’re in regions served by the UK, then it releases on March 1. Foreign language copies will release at various times.

I’m warning you now…unless you are getting a copy very soon, you won’t want to read this quote. Seriously. So stop here….unless…well, you know.

From Jaron:

“The blame for the destruction of my country lay solely Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  at my feet. And I had no will to make any of it better.”

If you’re in Utah, the launch party will be on Tuesday evening (Feb 25th) at The King’s English (1511 South 1500 East) in Salt Lake City at 7 pm. There are rumors of cake!

If you want a signed copy, you can order it (or any of my books) from The King’s English by 7 pm tomorrow and they will ship it out to you. Just put the name you want personalized in the comments section during checkout. You can see more about that here.

I will also be at Barnes & Noble South Towne on Sat Mar 1 from 1-4 pm for an authorpalooza, along with dozens of your favorite local authors!

I have started reading The Shadow Throne and I am almost halfway through it. I just have to say that it’s so far the best book I’ve ever read. I can’t wait to see what happens with Jaron and Imogen. I’ve been hooked on these characters since the first book. Second book was absolutly amazing also. I wished there was a fourth one.

Waiting for the book to get here is killing me! I can’t even imagine the look on the UPS man’s face if he sees me freaking out when he drops the book off! Haha! I bet I’ll finish it three days tops. πŸ˜‰ I got my friend to read The False Prince but she is public schooled unlike me, so she is often very busy. She never got around to reading The Runaway King. She LOVED The False Prince though. She mad it clear that it was one of her favorite books of all time! SURE IS MINE JUST TO PUT THAT OUT THERE! I’m excited to see her reaction to the signed copy of The Shadow Throne I’m going to get. πŸ˜› I remember a long tie ago when I finished The Runaway King thinking “I have to wait WAY to long for the next one!” I kinda dragged on with anticipation till about October. Then a bunch of crap went on. I kinda forgot about it. Till about February 15 or so. Maybe a bit later. But I remember freaking out about it coming out so soon! Reading these books has been the greatest adventure of my life. It brings so many different emotions. I I Don’t know what I would do without the joy from reading these books. even after a year, i still remember almost every little thing from them. especially, “Imogen, do you love me?” I FLIPPED OUT RIGHT THERE! Thank you for writing this series and bringing happiness into my life. To be honest, I don’t have a lot of that. I love this series so much.

PS. If a movie comes out, I think a great person to play Jaron would be Chandler Riggs. He is my favorite actor. He would be perfect! πŸ™‚

This is going to be my longest comment ever (that was a warning, btw)
(If you have not read The Shadow Throne, stop here unless you plan on killing me anyways πŸ™‚ )

I read the book on my kindle today, and it was WAY better then I ever thought possible. This is like, beating out Harry Potter good. πŸ™‚
I highlighted 41 times, and made 3 notes on my kindle. The Shadow Throne is definitely the best book I’ve ever read, no competition. It’s really inspirational, even though it takes place during a war. But when Imogen “died” (anyone who has not read the book but is reading the comment, this is why you shouldn’t be), at first I was like, No! She’s not dead! No way! She’s gonna come back form the dead, I know it! Then I was like, Imogen can’t be dead, she wouldn’t do that to me! Then, I thought, Well… I guess… maybe… Then I was like, I can’t believe she died! Then, I said to myself, Well, I guess I should admit it. If she were alive she’d’ve come back by now. She’s got to be dead. Then, finally, I decided, Imogen’s dead. When she came back, I was like this: :O OMG did that just happen??? IMOGEN’S ALIVE!!! YAY!!!
I love complex stories, so this was right up my alley. I really like how you chose unique names for all your characters. Oh, and speaking of characters, one of my favorite character’s name is my password on my kindle now in honor of the book.
I love the first line (and paragraph) and I love the last line, and I just generally love everything in the middle.
I think one of my favorite lines is, “Jaron wrote, ‘You’ll get nothing form me, ever, you dog-breath, rotted corpse of a king.'”
I woke up at 4:41 am (but that’s normal for me, usually I just fall back asleep) and the first thing I thought was, and I quote, “The book!” I read until the end of chapter 1, but was so excited to finally have read it that I couldn’t get back to sleep, so I just read.
By the way, Mott’s name was used 294 times, Tobias’ was used 245, Roden’s was used 196, Jaron’s was used 151, Amarinda’s was used 105, and Imogen’s was used 131. I think that Vargan’s name was used the most, at 206 times. No, I didn’t count, I just used the search option on my kindle.I think the most used place was Carthya (136), but Mendenwal was close, at 110.
To summarize: I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, like The Shadow Throne.
    Tori

          • June 27, 2014, 4:47 pm

Well I just finished The Shadow Throne about two minutes ago…

Don’t continue reading if you have not yet finished it.

    seriously…

Well I went about my house and my whole world and to my friends saying things like, “My life is over and everything has lost purpose” whenever some asked why, my answer would be, “IMOGEN IS DEAD!” and they would get very worried and panicked, thinking I had been talking about a real person. I simply explained to them what happened and they would get quite frustrated with me. I didn’t care. But a few minutes ago when I had read what happened with Jaron walking into the dungeon and seeing imogen. At that moment, my entire world lit up. whether he was going to die or not, everything was great. When they kissed, everything was better than great.

Reading everything before they got hanged was very hard to take in. I mean how many times have time has it seemed like it was the end of Jaron? Many right? So I was trusting him. But I was getting more and more and more worried throughout the whole thing. But when connor did what he did after they slipped the noose around his Jaron’s neck, I literally covered my mouth. The entire time reading the book, I was squealing and reading certain lines aloud. But what connor said right before he died, made me really angry. I am a bit shocked about how little his death upset me after saying what he had said.

Now to talk about Imogen and Jaron. When I started the chapter that began with “Imogen and I married a little over a year later” Or something like that, Everything just…I just…What happened…I am completely unable to put my emotions into words. They thoughts that swirled inside my head and the feelings that placed themselves inside me were overwhelming. It ended SO much better than I had expected. I’m so happy with how it ended. I am so proud of everyone in the book. Well, You know what I mean. I was incredibly shocked when Vargon was killed.

If someone were in the room with me while I was reading that book, they would have thought I was psychotic. wouldn’t have been able to blame them, I thought I was going psychotic myself.

This trilogy has been the greatest adventure of my life. I’m sad it’s over, but proud that I made it through happily and wasn’t disappointing. It was a better adventure then the eight book series of Artemis Fowl. That ended with anger because it ended in mid-sentence. Thank you for bringing this joy into my life. It means a lot.

    Tori

PS. All the quotes were verbatim.

I just have to say: If you can’t find your own words to say something, use someone else’s

I just finished the shadow throne, and by far, this is the best book in the false prince series. I loved how Imogen and Jaron were married, and wish there were a book either about their rule over Carthya, or their children. I will definately read more books by you!!

Thanks, RC. I wish I could give you suggestions, but pseudonyms are personal things. When you find the right one, you’ll know.

I’m just a Korean student going to middle school
reading this by my english book club, and I thought the
false prince was so amazing. I kept looking for the second
and third book, and yeah, in Korea the third book comes like almost February this year. Also I buy books on the internet and
because of having to pay the charge for delivery, I have
to wait and buy those two books altogether. I’m just looking
for the reviews and summaries, and it’s good to hear the part about Imogen and Jaron, and how the people rule and wars and etc.
Sorry to read it sooooooooooo late, but still I’ll love them.
Actually before I didn’t like prince stories so the first time
I read the false prince I didn’t really like it. But I was sort
of interested in Imogen(like Sage) and read the false prince two and three times, and it has a lot to think about (or maybe it’s just I’m filled with crazy and stupid imagination?).
Anyway, it’s the first time I left a review with a book.
Just thanks to you and your book, I’m very excited.
Look’s like I found a very new and happy book, in such many books
    I’ve read so far.
    Have a happy 2015!

Actually, Paramount has not yet made a final decision on whether to make the movie. That should happen in August. If they decide to go forward with the movie, at that point they’ll decide when and how to do auditions. I’ll announce any news on my blog when I learn it!

A director won’t be assigned until after the movie is approved, so no news yet!

My favorite quote in “Shadow Throne” was probably “I can’t remember a time since we met that I haven’t been in love with you.” -Imogen
Or it goes something like that. I don’t know. Excited for upcoming movie news!

    Hi Ms. Nielsen!
I recently finished reading the Ascendance Trilogy and I enjoyed it a lot(it is one of my favorite series/trilogys, it is better than the Alex Rider series, Gordan Kormans books, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Rick Riordans books, and the Harry Potter series put together)!
Jaron is so awesome, I love his sarcasm/witty remarks and all his quotes! ALL the characters are amazing!!!
Please make a movie(As long as they don’t butcher the books)!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reply, i have never written or gotten a reply from
    an author.
P.S: Do you have any more books?

The second one is correct, the first has typos.
P.S: My little sister also thinks it’s amazing, but for some idiotic reason she likes Harry Potter more.
